Real-world experiences build lifelong confidence.

Students practiced their crosswalk and community navigation skills to prepare for safely traveling to and from work. While out in the community, students also helped beautify the sidewalk area in front of our campus. In addition, students in the Adult Transition program took turns leading their class morning meeting, building confidence, communication, leadership, and workplace-readiness skills.

Last year, Kesav, an Oxford student, came to us with a heart to support his peers at Hope with communication.

For his Eagle Scout project, Kesav partnered with a company that creates exterior communication boards, worked alongside our speech team, and built a frame to hold the board. This weekend, Kesav, his dad, and friends came together to install it!

We’re so grateful for Kesav’s thoughtful work and dedication to making communication more accessible for our students. We’ll be using the board during transitions to help support our students in expressing their needs.
