Saturday, October 17th marked the start of Red Ribbon Week with the traditional City of La Palma Red Ribbon festivities!

Congratulations to both Miller School and Los Coyotes for showing up and celebrating a healthy lifestyle. Both schools brought incredible team spirit.

Staff also enjoyed connecting with alumni who now attend Walker and Kennedy High School. Reconnecting with our former students reminds us of the far reaching impact of our work! Thank you to all staff and Board members who attended the event.

Red Ribbon Week is a reminder of the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

Congratulations to Los Coyotes School. They are the proud winners of the 2026 Red Ribbon Week trophy!

CESD knows how to shake things up... safely, of course!

Today's Great California ShakeOut was a success. Across our district, students and staff dropped, covered and held on as they put their earthquake safety skills into action.

From classrooms to the District Office, Team CESD showed that being prepared takes practice, teamwork and a whole lot of cooperation.

We're so proud of our students and staff for taking the drill seriously and doing their part to keep our school communities safe.

A BIG thank you to everyone who helped plan, coordinate and support today's drill. Your efforts help make sure we're ready when it matters most!

🏅 CESD is officially a Common Sense Media Recognized District!

The digital world is moving fast for today's students, bringing opportunities and challenges we could never have imagined. That's why our schools use free resources from commonsensemedia to integrate digital literacy and well-being in schools across our district.

This recognition is earned when 75% of a district's schools are recognized individually, so this has truly been a whole-community effort. Thank you to our educators, students, and families!

Thank you to Vice Mayor Lamiya Hoque, all council members and city staff for organizing such a wonderful learning opportunities.
It was wonderful to have our Centralia Elementary School District Board President Luis Flores and Vice President, Angela Hernandez, along with Superintendent Martinez and other district staff present. Students appreciated learning about city governance and operations through the exciting learning opportunities provided by the city.

For our youngest learners, play is an important part of learning. Outdoor time gives our preschool students opportunities to move, explore, build friendships and practice important social skills, all while having plenty of fun!

At CESD, our preschool program helps children build the confidence and skills they need to create a strong foundation for the years ahead.

Solving a Rubik’s Cube takes patience, strategy and plenty of problem-solving. And our ELOP students are up for the challenge.

With a little guidance and lots of practice, students are learning how to work through each step, try new strategies and stick with it when the solution isn’t immediately clear.

It’s all part of the variety of enrichment experiences available through CESD’s Expanded Learning Opportunities Program, giving students new ways to think, explore and discover what they can do.
