This morning, Chaffee County Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a semi and two SUVs on Trout Creek Pass. While no injuries were reported, the damage was significant, resulting in a two-hour traffic impact. We are thankful for the prompt response from the Chaffee County Sheriff's Department, Office of Emergency Management, Colorado State Patrol, CDOT, and Gunsmoke Towing.
As we enter a holiday weekend with increased travel to favorite camping spots, we encourage everyone to drive safely. Please also be aware that Chaffee County remains under a Stage 1 Fire Ban; for details on the ban, please visit the Chaffee County Sheriff's website. www.chaffeesheriff.org

Chaffee County Fire proudly congratulates its four newest Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on completing their certification program, which included training, clinical experience, and passing the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination. These individuals bring the total number of EMTs to 13, supplementing our existing team of three Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) and four medical doctors. Congratulations to Rainer, William, Lawson, and Matt, from left to right. We are very proud of all of them.

It is evident that a training session will be highly productive when three agencies collaborate under one roof. We invited Chaffee EMS and Chaffee County Search and Rescue to join us for dinner and training. This marked our first training exercise with SARS. They provided us with instruction on their Big Wheel, and we trained them on our over the bank capstan winch. The evening was a tremendous success for everyone involved. We collectively concurred that this would not be our final collaborative effort. The community can rest assured that it has the finest 1st Responders in Colorado. Thank you to everyone for the delicious side dishes and joining us for a great evening.

Please be reminded that we are currently under a Stage 1 Fire Ban. Unfortunately, some individuals are still not adhering to this restriction. Chaffee Fire responded promptly to this incident and successfully extinguished the fire before it could spread. Let us all take responsibility for maintaining the safety of our community.
