Our Borough family is heartbroken over the loss of Greyson Jones, the 13-year-old son of our dear friend and coworker, Valerie, and her husband, Dave.

Valerie and her family are more than coworkers and community members to us. They are family, and when one of our own suffers a loss this unimaginable, we all feel it.

Greyson was a bright, adventurous young man with so much life ahead of him. A 2026 graduate of Buena Middle School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 101, he loved to travel, create, play guitar, listen to Metallica, follow NASCAR, and explore whatever might be around the next corner. He was looking forward to attending the Atlantic County Institute of Technology to study aviation, another adventure he was ready to begin.

Our hearts are shattered for Valerie, Dave, and everyone who loved Greyson. There are no words that can make sense of the loss of a child, and no words that can lessen the pain. We can only surround this family with love, hold them close, and remind them that they will not walk through this alone.

Please keep Valerie, Dave, their family, Greyson’s friends and classmates, Piper and all who loved him in your thoughts and prayers in the difficult days ahead.

Greyson, you were deeply loved, and you will be deeply missed.

As a reminder, the third quarter tax payment due date has been extended to September 18, 2026.

Borough of Buena Announces Soft Opening of New Pickleball Courts

Mayor Baruffi and the Borough Council are pleased to announce that the Borough’s new pickleball courts will open for public use on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The pickleball and tennis courts will remain open until dusk.

This will be a soft opening, allowing residents and visitors to begin enjoying the new courts. A formal grand opening ceremony will be scheduled and announced at a future date.

To protect the new playing surface and keep the courts safe, all users must follow the posted regulations:

The courts are for tennis and pickleball use only.

Skateboards, bicycles, scooters, roller skates, roller blades, motorized or electric vehicles, and similar activities are prohibited.

Cleated shoes of any kind are not permitted.

Do not climb over the fence. Please use the designated entrance.

Surveillance cameras are in use.

Violators may be prosecuted in accordance with Borough of Buena Ordinance No. 789.

The Borough asks everyone to respect the courts, follow the posted regulations, and help keep the new facility in good condition for the entire community.

Additional information regarding the formal grand opening will be released at a later date. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, August 1, at 10:00 a.m.

Tax Bill Update: Third-quarter tax bills have been delayed. The payment deadline will be extended beyond August 1, and the new deadline will be announced as soon as it is available.

No interest will be charged if payment is received by the new payment deadline.
