Vernon Township has teamed up with Play-Well TEKnologies to bring an exciting LEGO® camp to town August 3–7, right after summer camp wraps up. In this hands-on Dino Design STEM adventure, kids will journey back to the Jurassic era by building dinosaur habitats, exploring prehistoric worlds and bringing their creations to life through imaginative problem-solving with expert instructors. Thanks to an annual grant from the Lincolnshire Garden Club, Vernon Township purchased new tools and a cart to support fruit and vegetable planting for its Food Pantry garden. This generous support further strengthens the garden’s ability to provide fresh, healthy produce for the community. Thank you to the Lincolnshire Garden Club for your support of our neighbors in need, who due to your generous donation, will be able to access fresh fruits and vegetables from the Food Pantry garden.

In observance of Memorial Day, Vernon Township offices will be closed today, Monday, May 25. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, May 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Township wishes all residents a safe and meaningful holiday, as we take time to honor and remember the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Get ready for a summer full of fun, friendships and adventure at Vernon Township Summer Camp! Registration is open for the expanded 2026 program, which welcomes children ages 4–8 on or before September 1, 2026. Camp has been extended by an hour this year, and runs Monday, June 15 through Friday, July 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Campers will enjoy games, crafts, sports, themed activities, special guests and lifeguard-led swim lessons every third day. Give your child an exciting and memorable summer experience! In partnership with State Representative Daniel Didech’s office, Vernon Township (3050 N Main Street in Buffalo Grove) is a collection site for the Operation Dropbox donation drive throughout the month of May. This drive accepts canned and Pantry food, in addition to household and personal care items, to benefit more than 3,000 local veterans and their families. Residents are encouraged to get involved and help to make a difference in the lives of those who have served our country. Pool Opening Delayed: Due to ongoing construction, the William E. Peterson Park Pool will not be able to open as planned on May 23. We hope to have the pool plastered this week, weather permitting. Following installation, the plaster must cure underwater for several days before the pool can safely open to the public. The Township will share updates and announce the official opening date as soon as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to make improvements to the pool.

Save the date! The 17th annual Food Pantry Garage Sale will take place Saturday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Prairie View Train Station (23034 N. Main Street, Buffalo Grove). You can shop local vendors, discover hidden treasures and support the Vernon Township Food Pantry - all in one place! Vendor registration is now open at https://www.vernontownship.com/FormCenter/Food-Pantry-11/17th-Annual-Community-Garage-Sale-Vendor-195. Spaces are available for a $30 donation to the Food Pantry and can be reserved online or in person at the Township office (3050 N. Main Street, Buffalo Grove).

Save the date! Celebrate the end of summer at Family Movie Night in the Park on Friday, July 31, at Peterson Park (16652 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Vernon Hills) from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Bring your friends and family to enjoy an evening under the stars featuring the movie, Frozen, beginning at approximately 8:30 p.m. (runtime: 1 hour 40 minutes). The pool will be open for swimming at a discounted rate from 5 to 8 p.m., and concession stand will stay open late with favorites like popcorn, candy, slushies and ice cream. Guests can also take part in a raffle benefiting the Vernon Township Food Pantry, or bring unopened, non-expired, non-perishable food donations to receive a thank-you sticker.
