We are thrilled to announce critical funding for our BEST program thanks to Against the Storm Foundation ✨

Against the Storm Foundation presented a $10,000 check this week to support our "Basic Emotional Skills Training" program, providing classroom-based learning to Pre-K through Kindergarten students in the Cheektowaga Central School District.

This is the 2nd year the Foundation has made a similar gift to our BEST initiative.

"Bringing mental health into the classroom at such an early age will hopefully establish a framework for these young minds to significantly improve their academic, social and economic outcomes, leading to success in school and in life. This year's donation was made possible due in large part to the proceeds from our most recent 'Rock for the Cure' event. We are thankful to our sponsors, supporters and those who attended for helping to make this funding possible."
~Foundation president, Thomas Lillis

BEST currently serves a population of more than 600 students in the district.

It was an inspiring moment inside Family Court today as Judge Filbert made it official - these individuals are our newest CASA volunteers!

What is CASA?
✨ Court Appointed Special Advocates

CASA volunteers directly support young children and teenagers who are severely abused and neglected. They are an important step in the advocacy process, advocating with the children's best interest at heart and providing insight for lawyers, attorneys and judges to make the very best decisions.

We are always looking for more individuals who can volunteer their time to become an advocate for a child or children in need.

Please contact us today if this weighs heavy on your heart and you wish to give back | mhawny.org ✨

Every April, all month long, we celebrate the courage, perseverance and tenacity demonstrated by our military-connected children for "Month of the Military Child" πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Our OPCOM program - "Operation Children of the Military" - is an interactive cause created to support local children of the military with regular, entertaining programming, teaching positive coping skills. As you can imagine, the stress of deployment and the challenges associated with service trickles down to young minds.

It is a program we are proud to have through MHA and we are always looking for ways to make it bigger and better. Learn more at: https://mhawny.org/programs/
