We are incredibly honored and grateful to Junior League of Buffalo and The Buffalo News for naming Little Portion Friary as the recipient of the Decorator's Show House proceeds award of $250,000 to expand our women’s wing!

This investment is more than just funding. It’s hope, dignity, and opportunity for the women we serve every day. Because of this support, we will be able to create a safe and welcoming space to expand our capacity and meet the growing need in our community.

Homelessness in Western New York hits a record high with 2,188 people affected, as systemic strains limit support to only 20%, reports the Homeless Alliance.

Meet Our Semi-Finalists! Little Portion Friary: Strategic Shelter Expansion

Little Portion Friary, an emergency shelter for men and women experiencing homelessness in Buffalo, seeks a strategic capital investment to complete its 3-phase capital campaign and expand shelter capacity through renovating and repurposing third floor space. This is in response to the crisis of homelessness in the City of Buffalo, as well as the increasingly complex cases we have been seeing.

Little Portion Friary continues to expand its shelter capacity to respond to these regional needs, seeking to increase to 34-bed daily service capacity. It is making major interior improvements, in compliance with NYS Emergency Shelter Quality Standards. Once funded and renovations are completed, Little Portion Friary will have 4 additional rooms with 6 beds added through operationalizing its third floor, contributing toward long-lasting safety and stability for an increasing number of guests. This will allow LPF to provide an additional 2,190 nights of shelter annually, for years to come.

We are so grateful to BankOnBuffalo and Explore & More - The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children's Museum for hosting the annual Coats and Cans drive! Along with Gerard Place and Family Promise of WNY, we received so many coats, sweatshirts, and winter hats that will help us provide warmth for our guests for the rest of the winter ❄️ and thank you to BankonBuffalo for the generous donation! We are truly blessed to be part of this amazing initiative!
