Under the guidance and leadership of Principal Jennifer Gkourlias, International School 45 in my district has done a tremendous job of turning around its standing with the New York State Education Department.

Initiatives like the student leadership team have done wonders to reverse the school's fortunes, and I'm immensely proud of both the staff and students for their success!

No family should live in fear of being torn apart while taking their child to school, seeking medical care, or attending church. I'm proud to have supported a measure we passed in the State Legislature this week that helps ensure that our schools, hospitals, houses of worship, and child care centers remain safe spaces instead of targets for intimidation.

The bill also puts an end to local cooperation agreements that blur the line between local law enforcement and federal immigration enforcement, while prohibiting ICE agents from concealing their identities behind masks during enforcement actions.

New York is strongest when every resident is treated with dignity, fairness, and humanity. I’m proud to stand with immigrant communities and fight for policies that protect civil rights, strengthen public trust, and uphold our shared values.

Since I came into the Assembly, I've fought hard to secure funding and investment for Buffalo's AAPI communities and organizations, recognizing their economic contributions to the region and the great work they do.

During AAPI Heritage Month, we celebrate the work we've done to uplift these communities and look forward to continuing it!

Our EMS workers are tireless protectors of our health and safety. I’m proud to have voted this month to pass legislation to increase the state income tax credit for eligible volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers (A.6790-A) from $200 to $800 for individuals and from $400 to $1,600 for married joint filers.

On National EMS Week, we remember these everyday heroes and pledge to do what we can to support them.

The rain was no match for today's Women's March in downtown Buffalo! I'm proud to stand with women everywhere as we fight for a future where bodily autonomy and economic parity are the norm, and I have hope that's the kind of country my daughter will inherit.

Just a few weeks after our Republican colleagues accused the Assembly Majority of not supporting volunteer firefighters and emergency medical workers, today I’m proud to have voted to pass legislation to increase the state income tax credit for eligible volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers (A.6790-A) from $200 to $800 for individuals and from $400 to $1,600 for married joint filers.

This bill will also eliminate the current requirement for volunteers to choose between receiving an income tax credit or a property tax exemption, meaning if it’s enacted they would be able to receive both.

Our volunteer first responders are there for us in life’s most difficult and dangerous moments. I thank for championing this bill and I’m proud to have supported it.

Four years ago today our community endured one of the darkest days in Buffalo's history. There is still so, so much work to do to reverse the legacy of inherently racist and unjust city planning and disinvestment that facilitated this tragedy. We'll keep doing that work, and we will do it with these names forever in our hearts.

You know summer has arrived in Buffalo when you see the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market up and running!

I had the pleasure of seeing lots of familiar faces on Saturday and meeting some new ones too! 🌱🌿🌻

Happy Mother’s Day to my mom, and to all the moms, grandmothers, stepmoms, aunties, and caregivers who show up every single day with love, strength, and sacrifice.

My mom taught me the importance of hard work, compassion, and putting family and community first. I wouldn’t be who I am without her.

Today, I’m cooking dinner for my Mom, something I try to do every couple of weeks, and feeling especially grateful for the time we get together!

To all the moms out there holding families and communities together: thank you!
