Hi Everyone! I'm so excited about my upcoming University Express Art Presentation that I'm sharing a bit our our forgotten American history below, from a video about the Gullah people in South Carolina. WHY? Hopefully, you'll join us for MORE! 'Four African American Artists' has evolved as I meet new friends North and South and learn more about OUR unique and diverse cultural roots. Artists who contributed to fine arts, music and crafts--painting, architecture, quilts, sculpture, collage and as you will see below--the beautiful basketry SHOULD be as 'mainstream' as Norman Rockwell. Picasso took much inspiration from African 'abstract' styles and called it 'his own.' Enjoy the video and see you (virtually) in October to embrace and discuss this topic! Sign up soon!
