I wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge that today is National Thank A Mail Carrier Day. Every February 4, we are called to remember and appreciate those who help deliver our mail every day. To mail carriers everywhere: thank you. Your job is more valuable than many could begin to reason. I see you, I respect you, and I thank you. Even though you likely will not see you usual mail carrier today, make sure to thank them the next time that you see them for the valuable work that they do help keep our mail systems running.

February 1 is National Freedom Day. Freedom Day honors the signing of the resolution that later became the 13th Amendment to the Constitution by President Abraham Lincoln. Today, Freedom Day continues to be a reminder of its history, as it is the first day of Black History Month.

In addition to its historical roots Freedom Day has been cited as a day to celebrate freedom for all in America. So, Happy Freedom Day to all. I am grateful to live in a country that prioritizes and ratifies freedom for all of its citizens. We all should be.

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Dr. King was a true visionary and exemplified the type of person that we should strive to be. The work that he did during the civil rights movement remains the building blocks for the country as we see it today.

May we all take the lesson from Dr. King and remember that the time is always right to do what is right.

I'm happy to say that The Tool Library had a successful 2024, and are on track to have an even greater 2025. I'm always proud to partner with local businesses and this one in particular is close to my heart. Building a practical, sharing community is so important, and it is at the center of what the Tool Library does, while also focusing on helping their community. Consider joining the Tool Library if you can, and check out all of the incredible work that they do!

I have always recognized AEDs as the lifesaving medical technology that they are. As such, over the past two and half years I have remained dedicated to working alongside incredible groups such as the James V and Fay P Ryan Paramedic Foundation in order to get these lifesaving machines out into the community. To this point, through the county I have helped secure over $100,000 going towards these machines which have been distributed throughout the area.

Last year in 2023, we were able to start giving out AEDs to local fire halls, groups, schools, churches, and other places where the public congregates. And again this year we have found ourselves lucky to give out more. As of now, we have donated around 40 AEDs with more to come. Thank you to everyone who helped me as we put in the work to make this happen. The more AEDs we have out to the public, the more ready we are for if someone needs direct intervention in the case of a medical emergency.

If there are any local groups be it recreational locations, schools, churches or the like, please reach out to Dan Wiles at (716)208-0044 for more information on how to potentially get an AED for your own group, or reach out to my own office at (716)871-5905. Over the course of 2025 we hope to continue reaching towards the goal of distributing more AEDs, and we want to make sure they go to places where they can help most.

This Saturday, December 7th from 6:00-11:00pm, head to the Elks Lodge and help support kids having a good Christmas, while having a great time with some music. Donations of unwrapped toys or money are graciously accepted. You can head to any of the listed locations to drop off any toys you may have as well!

It's A Wonderful Night!

Join the City of Tonawanda this Friday for their annual holiday kick-off event. There will be holiday and craft vendors, food, community caroling, dinner and drink specials, and the kids can come and visit with Santa!

The celebration will run from 5:00-10:00pm, with the annual Clinton Park Tree Lighting at 7:00pm sharp! Come and help us kick off the holidays.
