🏡 HOME is fighting to protect fair housing rights!

A recent City Limits opinion article highlights a critical case that could affect New Yorkers who rely on housing (Section 8) vouchers to find a safe, affordable place to live.

HOME, alongside five other fair housing organizations, filed an amicus brief in People v. Commons West, LLC, urging the New York Court of Appeals to uphold protections against discrimination based on lawful source of income.

These protections help ensure that people using Section 8 and other rental assistance have a fair opportunity to find housing. Without them, more New Yorkers could face barriers to securing a place to call home.

At HOME, we believe access to housing should not be limited by how someone pays their rent.
