Check out our art!!! Our Art Director, "Jazzy Jan" encouraged our Campers to express about themselves and their concerns through art. We are thankful for her, “Joyful Jamie" and “Serendipitous Sean” from The Prevention Council of Erie County , one of our collaborators for Camp Peaceprints.
CONGRATULATIONS Sally Yageric from The Prevention Council of Erie County 2021 Friend of Prevention!
"Sally has partnered with WNY United for many years to bring information and implement strategies to help young people in WNY communities avoid the problems that come from misusing alcohol and other drugs. She is currently working with several coalitions to help them better inform local governments about the impact the recent legalization of ma*****na will have on our youth and community resources. Over 20 years ago Sally and Karen Smith from WNY United created the Parent Forums to be hosted by our local schools to inform parents about how using alcohol, to***co, ma*****na and other substances will affect their children, impact their futures and put families at risk. In addition, she has been supportive of more than one coalition in their application for Drug-Free Communities funding. Sally is more than deserving of this award. She has been in the Prevention Field for as long as I can remember. Her wealth of knowledge, her hard work ethic and her ability to talk to anyone and educate them at the same time are traits that can't go unnoticed. Thank you Sally!" - Sue Boyle

Prevention begins and ends with parenting. Children of parents who engaged in parenting behaviors and practices generally recognized as supporting their healthy development rarely hurt themselves and others. The Centers for Disease Control, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and the National Institute of Mental Health should be working furiously to find ways to improve the overall quality of parenting in the U.S. Perhaps parenting education campaigns akin to the smoking and seatbelts campaigns of the past.
