California is the 1st state to ban 'stealthing,' nonconsensual condom removal

Glad to see this news out of California. Keep an eye on NY’s progress by following Senate Bill S4401, introduced in the 2019-2020 Legislative Session, and remind your senators we want to see this move forward!

Stealthing can result in pregnancy or the transmission of a sexually transmitted disease, but advocates say removal is itself a violation. Victims will be able to sue the perpetrators in civil court.

Mandate Military Sexual Assault Prevention Training

Action Needed: Larry Nassar, doctor for the U.S. national gymnastics team, was allowed to assault hundreds of young women with impunity for nearly two decades.

As became clear during the Senate hearing last week, USA Gymnastics, the U.S. Olympic Committee, and the FBI failed to take action on complaints, which allowed the abuse to continue.

You can email the senate to express your support for to support an independent investigation of the FBI and U.S. Olympic Committee, as well as an additional hearing to understand the full scope of the Justice Department’s failure to act and prosecute the FBI investigators.

The lifelong impacts on hundreds of womens' lives resulting from the systemic failure of the FBI and U.S. Olympic Committee to properly respond to the complaints of abuse about Larry Nassar cannot be overstated.

Simone Biles Is Competing At The Tokyo Olympics For One Emotional Reason

"I just feel like [with] everything that happened, I had to come back to the sport to be a voice, to have change happen. Because I feel like if there weren't a remaining survivor ( of Nassar’s abuse) in the sport, they would've just brushed it to the side."

Here's the latest on the Violence Against Women Act, which is up for reauthorization by Congress

The #VAWA reauthorization is seeking to close the “boyfriend loophole” in the federal law prohibititing people who’ve been convicted of domestic violence against those who they’ve been married to, lived with or have a child with from owning or purchasing fi****ms.

However, in reality #VAWA21 would expand the prohibition to current and former dating partners, as well as those convicted of misdemeanor stalking, irrespective of gender. http://ow.ly/rJ0W50F1kXI

The Violence Against Women Act was enacted in 1994, but it requires reauthorization by Congress

Caption: “I think we should start using the term “escape”. Domestic violence victims don’t leave, they escape. Some don’t make it out with their lives, all are injured. To use the word “leave” implies that it’s easy, that it’s a simple process of packing a bag and walking out. It’s an escape, with high risks. It has to be planned carefully, and it isn’t always successful. “Why didn’t she leave?” Can be answered with “She wasn’t able to escape.” Sarah Moss”
