Today is World Lion Day! Be sure to stop by our Big Cats Exhibit and say hello to all of the beautiful lions!

Here are a few pictures and some information...

Pic #1 -Acacia in pool - Lions predominantly do not like water. They do not spend time swimming but will enter the water when necessary to cross a river to catch prey. However, every once in a while we catch a Lion playing in the water (even if its not swimming). Just like in this photo of our older female Acacia playing with a boomer ball the pool.

Pic #2, #3 - Tiberius- Remember when Tiberius first arrived in Buffalo!?!? He was just under 2 years old and was sporting a mohawk. Male Lion's manes usually begin to grow around 1 year of age and become full after ~ 4 years. We expect little Tobias and Roary will have manes resembling their dad in a few years :)

Please check out www.panthera.org/ and letlionslive.org/#pledge for more information on how you can help support lions.
