The Garden Project of the Food Bank of WNY

The Garden Project of the Food Bank of WNY Individuals of all ages, community organizations, garden enthusiasts, gardening and/or nutrition edu

The Garden Project is a partnership between the Cornell Cooperative Extension's Master Gardeners Program, the Food Bank of Western New York, and Food For All. In conjunction with the Food Bank of Western New York, Food For All runs the Garden Project to work in pursuit of a more sustainable food system by empowering people to engage in agricultural production. Garden participants consist of income

-eligible families and community volunteers. Since its founding, the Garden Project has become a highly productive garden with a committed participant base. Our volunteer staff guides our gardeners through all aspects of food production, from composting and mulching to preparing and planting seeds, weeding, managing pests and diseases, and harvesting. Throughout the growing season, we hold nutrition and cooking lessons to educate gardeners about different ways to consume and preserve their garden-harvested produce.

September is NOFA-NY Locavore Month!
NOFA-NY is celebrating local food, farmers and farm-to-table cookery during September. We hope you'll talk up your love of local food and your support of sustainable farming to your friends and family. It's a great time to share in experiences cooking together, dining at farm-to-table restaurants, taking action to shape policy in support of organic farms, and visiting the farms themselves!

Check out a current listing of Locavore Challenge-inspired events around the state, or add your own by completing this online form.

We'll be offering resources through our website, sharing experiences on our blog, and keeping you informed of Locavore events in New York.
