We area a 501(C) not for profit organization of United States Coast Guard (USCG) Chiefs providing support to their shipmates, their families and the local community. The United States Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association is unique among service organizations in that it was created by the Chiefs, of the Chiefs, and for the Chiefs of the United States Coast Guard.

Mr. Cody Bockhorn participated once again in the Armed Forces Wing Eating Contest at the National Buffalo Wing Festival today, thanks to our friends at WNYHeroes.org!

If you remember last year, Cody took home 2nd place! So, of course, we had to see what he could do this year!

Thanks, Cody, for representing us and always making us proud!

And while Cody was busy crushing wings, we can’t forget to check out his beautiful wife, BMC Brigitta Bockhorn, Officer in Charge of Station Niagara, and that ADORABLE baby bump!

Congratulations to you both! We’re so excited for your growing family! ❤️⚓️

The CPOA/CGEA Convention was an awesome experience. We had the honor of meeting so many amazing members of this association, networking, sharing ideas, and learning from Chiefs and leaders from all across the country.

And …. WE WON CHAPTER OF THE YEAR!!!

After 57 years, this is the FIRST TIME EVER our Chapter has received this honor!

We couldn’t be more proud of our incredible team and all the hard work, dedication, and countless hours that went into making this happen.

We left Houston proud, grateful, inspired, and ready to keep doing what we do best… supporting our Coast Guard family and our community!!

🏆 WE DID IT! 🏆

Tonight in Houston, Texas, at the 2026 CPOA Convention, CPOA Eastern Great Lakes Chapter was honored with the United States Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association 2026 President’s Outstanding Chapter Award!

This award is a HUGE accomplishment for our team of active duty, retired, and reserve E-7 through E-9 members who have poured countless hours, passion, and dedication into making our chapter the best it can be. We couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished together this year!

But this award belongs to more than just our chapter….

We could not have done it without the incredible support of our friends, families, community partners, sponsors, and everyone who has shown up for us along the way. Your support makes everything we do possible, and we are beyond grateful.

We are incredibly proud to stand alongside all of the amazing chapters within this association. Every chapter brings something special to the table, and we can’t wait to see where we all go from here!

From incredible leadership and fellowship to big conversations, new ideas, and memories we won’t soon forget, this convention has been one for the books!

Today at the CPOA Convention, attendees took some time away from the convention floor to give back to the Houston community! Our group, along with a couple of other groups, volunteered at the Houston Food Bank and put in some serious work.

Together, we sorted 21 pallets of food, which translates to just over 10,000 meals for families in need! 🥫🍎

It was an incredible reminder that being a Chief isn’t just about leadership - it’s about service, community, and taking care of others.

What an incredible first day at the CPOA Convention! We had an absolute blast and had the incredible opportunity to hear from some of the legends who helped shape CPOA.

We were honored to hear from our Gold Lifetime Members - there are only 38 Gold Lifetime Members in all of CPOA, and FOUR of them are pictured here! What an incredible piece of history and experience all in one room.

We also had the privilege of hearing from the 14th MCPOCG Heath Jones this morning, along with CPOA National President BMCS (ret.) Charlie Womack. Their leadership, experience, and insight continue to inspire us as we look toward the future of CPOA and the Coast Guard.

We wrapped up the morning with an Honors Lunch before breaking off into our respective groups for the afternoon.

Day 1 is officially in the books, and we’re just getting started!

Our President, YNC Amanda McKillip and former Vice President, OSC Sam Hayes of CPOA Eastern Great Lakes are currently in Houston, Texas for the next few days attending the CPOA National Convention!

This year is extra special because CPOA Eastern Great Lakes is running for Chapter of the Year! We’re incredibly proud of the work our chapter has accomplished and excited for the opportunity to represent our members and everything we’ve built together.

The convention is more than just an award - it’s a phenomenal opportunity to help shape the future of CPOA and CGEA, connect with other chapters, share ideas, learn from leaders across the organization, and bring those ideas back home to continue making our chapter stronger.
