On May 22nd, our school community came together for two big events. 🎉

First Responders Day 🚒 🚔
Our students raised $1,000 for the Mercy Hospital Foundation and the Buffalo Fire Department to have a chance at sliming their teacher! Over 32 staff members were slimed (Slime Time Live style!) and 2 staff members even had their heads shaved by students. We also wrapped up our final Unity Games alongside firefighters from the BFD and officers of the BPD.

Cultural Day 🌏
Organized by our IDEA Committee, students explored global traditions through a martial arts demonstration , a traditional lion dance, and lively musical performances.

Thank you to everyone who made this day of charity, unity, and culture possible!

First responders day is this Friday! Tomorrow is the last day for students to buy tickets for a chance at sliming their teachers and administrators!

Our track team had their first meet over the weekend! While a first place remained elusive, our students have several second and third place finishes in their events.

The teams next meet is Saturday, May 30th from 10 am - 2 pm at Tapestry.

Our brand new Softball team made history this past Tuesday! In their inaugural game against EVCS Hertel, the Jaguars dominated the field with a massive 11-0 shutout victory. 🥎

Huge congratulations to our Lady Jags on a spectacular debut!

Their next game is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19th at 4:30 PM against EVCS Days Park. All games are held on the SBCS Softball field. For additional future games, please check the event calendar on our school webpage.

Ms. Lukowski’s and Ms. Zelaskos's 2nd graders just wrapped up a 5-week Project Based Learning unit! 🚜🌱

Students sought to answer essential question: "How could you survive a week on a farm by yourself?" and dived into the world of agriculture. Throughout the project, our young farmers:
- Distinguished between "needs" vs. "wants" on a farm.
- Researched plant life cycles and needs by growing their own vegetables.
- Explored animal life cycles.
- Learned about the roles and responsibilities of a farmer with a guest visit from a local farmer!

The project culminated in impressive group presentations. Students proudly shared their cardboard sculptures of farm animals and farm dioramas, plant growth logs, a farmer's daily schedule they crafted, and digital presentations of their findings!
