Today, the Erie County Republican Legislature Caucus successfully overrode Mark Poloncarz’s veto of the youth hunting bill, protecting an important outdoor tradition and creating new opportunities for young people to safely learn responsible hunting alongside their families.

Thank you to the thousands of Erie County voters who stepped up and signed a petition for Bruce Blakeman’s Vote Affordable line. This is a major boost to his effort to defeat Kathy Hochul and make New York affordable again!

The Nassau County executive has mounted an effort to run on a separate, independent “Vote Affordable” party line on the November ballot in his bid to topple Democrat Hochul.

Today, the County Executive signed the law and rolled out several policies related to it, including a notice to ALL businesses in Erie County, whether they collect biometric data or not, that they MUST fill out the notice requirement on the County's website, or they will face the penalties. The law only applied this requirement to those knowingly collecting data and now through their enforcement they are applying provisions to ALL businesses, with very strict penalties for non compliance. This confirms the reason I voted no. This law was rushed and its implications and enforcement was not thoroughly vetted. I am working to get this back and track, so all businesses are not negatively impacted. This is an overreach of government authority and massive undue burden for small business.

🚨 NEW: Mark Poloncarz just signed what could become the largest county mandate on businesses since the COVID shutdowns.

If Erie County's own rollout is accurate, every business in Erie County may now be expected to file notices with the County within 30 days or face potentially thousands of dollars.

Small businesses are already struggling with taxes, inflation, and government mandates. The last thing they need is more bureaucracy and confusion.
