Canalside Walking Tour:
Buffalo grew from the water's edge, as the Erie Canal and later the railroads brought unprecedented commerce and industry to the city. This waterfront walking tour will explore the area of the Erie Canal's 1825 western terminus, which is known today as Canalside and the site of ongoing development as the city returns its focus to the water. The redevelopment of Canalside and new waterfront attractions are featured in this tour, along with the history of the Erie Canal and development of the grain elevator and other waterfront industry.
This tour meets outside the Tim Horton's at Harborcenter, at the corner of Main and Scott Streets - use the address of 1 Scott Street, Buffalo NY 14203. The Canalside MetroRail station is directly across Scott Street. This tour is approximately one hour in length and 1 mile of walking.
City Hall
Buffalo City Hall is a masterpiece of Art Deco design that is a symbol of the City of Buffalo. Completed in 1931, City Hall features ornamentation celebrating the City of Buffalo and its people, history, and values throughout both its interior and exterior. The lobby features murals by William de Leftwich Dodge, and the Common Council Chambers are highlighted by an extraordinary sunburst skylight. Join us for a free one-hour tour to discover the history and design of this remarkable building. The tour typically includes the lobby and Common Council Chambers. Certain areas of City Hall may be unavailable on a particular day due to meetings, press conferences, or other events.
Thank you Explore Buffalo for making this happen!

Thursday, May 16, 2024
6:00 -8:00 PM
(Presentation begins at 6:30)
Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center
50 East North St. Buffalo 14203
Dr. David Lafferty,
of Western New York Ear, Nose and Throat (WNY ENT)
will be our guest speaker.
Dr. David Lafferty is a board certified otolaryngologist
(ear, nose and throat specialist), who has subspecialty fellowship training in otology
– the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss and complex ear conditions.
Dr. Lafferty is now the only otologist currently practicing in Western New York.
Dr. Lafferty treats patients for all ear, nose and throat related conditions,
but his subspecialty in otology makes him uniquely qualified to also treat patients
with hearing loss and other complex ear problems, including those best treated
surgically, such as cochlear implants to address hearing loss in patients young and old alike.
Prior to Dr. Lafferty’s return to Western New York, patients with these conditions
needed to travel to Rochester, NY to see an otologist.
Dr. Lafferty sees patients at the Orchard Park, Williamsville
and Lockport offices of Western New York Ear, Nose, and Throat (WNY ENT)
