Today we wished PO Chu-Flowers a happy retirement after more than 20 years in our department! Over the years, PO Chu-Flowers has worked in both supervision and report prep within our juvenile and adult divisions. Prior to joining Probation, she worked in the County Executive’s Office and Child Protective Services. Outside of work, she is known for her love for and kindness toward animals, her faithfully donating blood and her participation in community events. She truly will be missed!

Deputy County Executive Lisa Chimera presented Probation Deputy Commission Sheila Ruhland with a proclamation designating today as Sheila Ruhland Day in Erie County! Deputy Commission Ruhland is retiring today after more than 40 years of service with the county. During that time, she spent 30 years with Probation, and her dedication in her roles as officer, supervisor, principal probation officer and deputy commissioner has been unmatched! She will be so very missed. Best wishes into retirement!!

It was an honor to recognize Erie County Probation Deputy Commissioner Sheila Ruhland upon her retirement after more than 40 years of dedicated service to Erie County.

From her earliest roles supporting victims and families to her leadership as Deputy Commissioner, Sheila’s professionalism, compassion and commitment have made a lasting impact on our county and everyone fortunate enough to work alongside her.

Congratulations, Sheila, and thank you for a remarkable career of service to the people of Erie County!

Today we delivered hygiene products to The Reentry Opportunity Center and toured the offices. The ROC works with individuals who are released from incarceration and others within the community who require assistance, from basic essentials to linkage to services. Oftentimes, those being released from jail require hygiene items and other basics - hats, socks, gloves, etc. - so our department collected items over the summer to help restock shelves. Thank you to staffers for your generosity!
