Dialysis is a medical treatment that removes waste from blood when a person’s kidneys are failing or have failed. Dialysis isn’t an optional or elective treatment. It has to be done regularly – several times a week – or that person dies.

This blizzard has disrupted many patients’ dialysis treatments; delays in treatment put these patients’ lives at risk.

The Erie County 858-SNOW line is receiving a steady stream of requests for transport to dialysis. We are making every effort to transport patients to a dialysis center. Patients (or a friend, family member or caretaker) can call 858-SNOW to arrange a ride to the center. Please be prepared to stay at the center for an extended period (bring medications, snacks, etc.).

With the rise in Gun Crime across the Country and here in the City of Buffalo, Erie County Probation Officers have stepped up their supervision of Illegal Gun Offenders. In the past week, Officers located 2 illegal handguns during home contacts leading to new Felony Weapons charges. Pictured is a Mac 10 with the serial number removed, one of the illegal weapons found. Both offenders were already being supervised by the (GIVE) Gun Involved Violence Elimination unit. Great job PO’s Doyle, Anderson, Paris and Cooper.
