It is with great pride and humility that I accept the endorsement of the Erie County Democratic Committee to become your next Buffalo City Court Judge.
God thank you very much for every blessing, every tear, every smile, and all the twists and turns which have brought me here today. I know this is my divine purpose and I thank you for allowing me abilities that will enable me to uplift and enlighten others.
To my parents and grandparents, I know you are shining your light from heaven for all of us to see. There are no words that can express all that you mean to me and done for both me and the community. But for now, I will say thank you for seeing me well before I could see myself.
Mayor Brown, I have been forever empowered by your support and equally grateful to you for believing in me … especially for telling me the hard truth when I was unable or not ready to hear it years ago: you were not ready. BUT now is your time!
To Chairman Zellner, Jake, Olivia, and the Esteemed Members of the Executive Committee, Screening Committee, Zone Chairs, Committee Members and the entire ECDC staff ---thank you so much for your trust in my candidacy. It truly does take a village to plant seeds. Without your guidance and expertise, I would not have made it this far in the process. I pledge diligence and loyalty and I am committed to the work, and every day I will make you prouder as we work to win the election.
To Champ and Ike --you do not pull punches and you tell it like it is. I appreciate you for that. Your insight has made me a better candidate and person. Thank you for answering my calls, for responding to my texts, and most of all, for giving me a comprehensive view that has bolstered my success at each and every stage of this process.
To my extended family of siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, community aunts and uncles, political and governmental colleagues, and my forever friends, too many of whom to name here, I love you so much.
I am running for Buffalo City Court Judge to fulfill my personal and professional dreams. Professionally, I want to become the best judge possible. By working in the busiest court in Erie County – the People’s Court – I’m in a position to become an expert in criminal and civil matters. Personally, I am the nephew of Tearah Mullins, former Supervising Court Attorney at Buffalo City Court – who retired after over 20 years working in the Court. Serving our community is important to my family.
I am an attorney with over a decade of law practice experience in civil and criminal matters, including serving as Deputy General Counsel to the Office of Cannabis Management and Assistant Corporation Counsel to the City of Buffalo. I also have 20 years of government experience and rose from an intern to Deputy Mayor. These positions and experiences, have prepared me for the bench.
I was educated in Buffalo Public Schools, starting with Academic Challenge Center, Seneca High School and then graduated with honors from SUNY Buffalo.
Much like my community and the schools I attended, Club Joy, my mother’s former establishment was a representation of the litigants and attorneys who will appear before me as a Buffalo City Court Judge.
It is important to me to run and win. I know that I will do so successfully with your support.
The above experiences have instilled a great respect for the judiciary's function as interpreter of the law. They have also increased my appreciation for the Mayor’s and party's roles in selecting judges.
By participating in this process, I have grown stronger and learned so much. I am energized and clearer than ever that I was built for and am destined to serve as a judge. I am focused and I will run a successful campaign.
And so, I ACCEPT ECDC’s endorsement to become a Buffalo City Court Judge.
As your endorsed candidate, I will work hard everyday to win this election. Thank you and May God keep you and bless you and May God Bless the Great City of Buffalo and Western New York!
