🇺🇸 Congratulations to our Brewster St. Farm lead, Bir Rai, whose son, Dambar Rai, became a United States citizen yesterday at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park!

We are proud to celebrate this important milestone with Bir Rai and his family. Wishing his son all the best as he begins this new chapter as an American citizen. Bir Rai and Dambar Rai are pictured with JERS Immigrant Resource Program manager, Myo Thant.

Happy Flag Day, Western New York! In honor of the holiday, we sat down with our very own Gertrude Jones, to reflect on what the American Flag means to her as a former refugee and proud American Citizen.

Gertrude shared that for her, the flag represents what defines and distinguishes America from any other country in the world: freedom, dignity, opportunity, and prosperity. Simply put: “it means a whole lot!”, she says as she proudly waves her American Flag.

Thank you, Gertrude, for sharing this powerful reminder of why we revere these Stars and Stripes!

We're kicking off something special! Join us for a FREE one-night event at the Western New York Refugee Film Festival!

Hosted at duende at Silo City on Thursday, June 25th at 7pm, our 7th annual festival will feature live music by the Voice of Victory Band and a screening of 27-minute documentary Breakaway: The Refugee World Cup. Catering will be provided by the West Side Bazaar , along with Turkish tea and desserts from Buffalo United for Peace, Inc.
