Buffalo-China Sister Cities Buffalo-China Sister City Affairs was formed to promote partnerships and colloboration between City of Buffalo and her Sister Cities in China

The City of Buffalo is now proudly official Sister Cities with CHANGZHOU CHINA. Promotion and Collaboration take place in the areas of education, business, culture and tourism. Buffalo-China Sister City Affairs is dedicated to building vibrant relations between Buffalo and Changzhou China, as well us possible future China Sister Cities.

Mission: With the cultural gap between East and West-China and America, it is necessary to have special attention given to bridging this gap, as both sides have a great interest in learning, making exchanges and increasing their understanding of each others culture. Buffalo-China is dedicated to representing the City of Buffalo's open and respectful mindset regarding cultural relations, as well as bringing the Chinese culture and people closer to Buffalo. Through these valuable relationships we strive to enrich the education and economy of the Buffalo Niagara region.

Changzhou China's 40 person delegation visit to shoot a mini docuseries on the Buffalo Changzhou Sister City relationship. The trip to Buffalo included a tree planting ceremony with Mayor Brown and Director of Buffalo China Sister Cities, Erin Markle and government delegates from Changzhou. (shown here)

The documentary also shot a Changzhou childrens art show held at Buffalo Arts Studio with Mayor Brown in attendance, as well as highlighted the Gold Summit Institute for their work in Chinese art exchanges.

Next year, a Buffalo delegation will be invited to have an art exchange in our Sister City of Changzhou! Fashion design, as well as painting, dance and other local arts will be chosen. Stay tuned for info on how to apply!

It was a very successful trip with the Chinese delegation from our Sister City of Changzhou this past week!
They filmed our events with Mayor Brown and Director of Buffalo China, Laoshi Markle, as well as went to Gold Summit Chinese Cultural Center to film the Kung fu kids, and Tai Chi and Chinese Tea Art with Laoshi Markle.

There will be a "Changzhou Children's Art Exhibition" this coming July here in Buffalo. The exhibit is an effort by Changzhou Foreign Affairs and Buffalo China Sister Cities to promote cross cultural understanding.

Another tour in China set up for 2017 through Buffalo China Sister Cities. The trip will include the beautiful city of Hangzhou, the mountains in Fujian province and of course, a stop in our Sister City of Changzhou!

Buffalo State College and the Changzhou NCA College will now take steps to develop an exchange program in various arts. Director of China Studies at Buffalo State will work with the Director of NCA College-first step, several Buffalo arts teachers will take the trip to Changzhou

Foreign Affairs in Changzhou say they have submitted their proposal on the Chinese cultural project, involving 30 departments in their government. News on this may be awhile, as this type of thing moves slowly, but positive feedback came from the Chinese delegation after their visit to Buffalo this summer!

The Buffalo Changzhou China Art Exchange program is now being designed! This year, 3 local artists will be chosen to spend a week in Changzhou at the Art Vocational College learning a variety of Chinese Arts. After paying for airfare and small coordination fee, the rest of the trip is FREE!
The following year a larger group from Changzhou will stay in Buffalo to study western style art. This program is a fantastic way for collaboration and understanding of cultures.

2014 will be another active year for Buffalo China relations. A tour for local residents to China will be planned, A Changzhou delegation will come to Buffalo, and other projects and exchanges are taking place locally!
