I was honored to join a meaningful panel discussion at Nardin Academy with Dinorah Baines, along with Laura Stracko from the Tony Award-winning musical Suffs Musical to speak with students about women’s leadership, civic engagement, and the power of storytelling.

As a former teacher, I know how important it is for young people—especially young women—to learn about the courageous women of Suffs who fought for the right to vote, see themselves reflected in leadership, and know their voices can create change.

Thank you the cast and crew of Suffs, Nardin Academy, Shea's Performing Arts Center, and everyone who helped make today possible!

It was a pleasure to welcome students from across Erie County to ā€˜The Power of Us: A Celebration of Youth Civic Engagement’ at the Erie County Legislature today.

Thank you to our partners for making this important event possible, including the Erie County Historical Commission, Buffalo Public Schools, Academy for Human Rights, Erie 1 BOCES, the New York State Civic Readiness Initiative, and the Erie County Legislature. I look forward to seeing the impact these students will have on Erie County and beyond.

Happy Pride Month, Erie County! 🌈

It was great to join the Stonewall Democrats of Western New York, GLYS Western New York, Inc., Evergreen Health, colleagues in government, including Mayor Sean M. Ryan, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, Fillmore District Council Member Mitch Nowakowski, and many others, as we raised the Pride Flag over Niagara Square.

This month and every month, we stand with our LGBTQ+ community, and Erie County remains committed to ensuring everyone feels safe, supported, welcomed, valued, respected, and celebrated for who they are.

We want to ensure our older adults, their families and caregivers have the information and resources they need to plan ahead, make informed decisions, and navigate important legal and financial matters. That is what our annual Elder Law Day is all about.

This annual event helps connect residents with trusted guidance on estate planning, Medicaid, long-term care planning and more.

Thank you to our Erie County Department for the Aging, the Center for Elder Law & Justice, the volunteer attorneys, partner agencies, and our Erie County departments for their partnership and participation in making today a success.

As Co-Chair of Live Well Erie, I was proud to join Positive Coaching Alliance for a Community Roundtable focused on strengthening partnerships and expanding opportunities for young people across Erie County.

The discussion highlighted the importance of breaking down barriers that impact youth and families, including access, transportation, trust, and connection.

Thank you to Daycia McClam and James Lambert III for leading a thoughtful conversation on how collaboration can help create stronger pathways to success for our young people.

These students have excelled in academics, athletics, leadership, and community service, and each represents the promise and potential of the next generation.
