Want to have a direct impact on New York’s climate action plan? You have an opportunity to participate in this critically important public process!

In 2019 New York State adopted perhaps the most ambitious law in the nation to address the Climate Crisis: The Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. The Climate Act will be implemented through a roadmap for action called the ”Scoping Plan.” This Scoping Plan document is open for public input via written comments and/or public hearing testimony.

If you’re interested in signing up to testify at an upcoming hearing, let us know! There’s a sign up form in our bio, and you can DM us for more details. There are multiple way to participate - hearing in Buffalo on 4/27.

We will be hosting an informational workshop around Public Banking and the work NYPIRG has done so far. Sign up at link in bio! We will cover basics on what a public bank is, the difference between public vs private banks, and how expanding public banking in New York State would invest in local communities and support residents of New York. Investing in public banks is an investment in things like clean renewable energy, affordable housing, strong social programs and local business.

Workshop will be held online via Google Meet and features a guest Speaker Kyle Giller (attorney and state-wide NYPIRG Public Bank Coordinator) who will share expert knowledge on the importance and role of public banks and be available to answer questions following the presentation.

Public Banks DIVEST from Wall Street and INVEST in our communities!
