Our Story
The Old House Downtown™ is the last remaining Delaware Avenue house near Niagara Square. The 1850s brick house is nestled in the parking lot of the Buffalo Statler and Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
The old brick house is best remembered as George Steinbrenner's Roundtable
Restaurant where Mr. Steinbrenner announced to the world his purchase of the New York Yankees. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yRX_SThP1w
In the 1940s and 1950s the building was Anthony Monte's Chateau Restaurant.
A "Choice Of 25" ghost sign emerged as layers of blue paint were recently removed from the brick.
My name is Howard Goldman. I purchased the wonderful building several years ago. My wife (Mary Kunz Goldman) and I enjoy fixing it up and dreaming about the adventures that lie ahead.
My wife works at The Buffalo News and I owned a small company that produced specialized products for law enforcement. I am the Statler City cocktail pianist.
