Happy Juneteenth!

Last weekend, Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation officially designating the Harriet Tubman Byway to the state's scenic byway system. This phase begins in the City of Auburn and ends at the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center - following NYS roads along the way!

WNY and Region 5 are proud to be part of this important history.

International Women in Engineering Day is coming up on June 23. Women are still significantly underrepresent across engineering professions but there are many talented women in leadership roles across the New York State Department of Transportation, including right here in Western New York. Queen City Forward will be tabling at the Juneteenth festival this weekend. We're looking forward to seeing everybody there and talking about this important project as we continue to collect feedback about the future of the Kensington Expressway.

We had an awesome time this weekend at the Buffalo Public Schools Summit at All High Stadium!

Our plow truck (and the air horn) were a big hit with kids but we also got a chance to talk with members of the community about Queen City Forward and the Kensington Expressway, as well as many other opportunities and initiatives at NYSDOT.

Didn't see us Saturday? Don't worry! We'll be at many more events this summer including the Juneteenth festival this weekend!

NYSDOT Region 5 and Queen City Forward will be part of the Buffalo Public Schools end of the year Summit at All High Stadium from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Come join us to chat about the Kensington Expressway and other DOT initiatives.
