El Buen Amigo is LACA's fair trade storefront located in the heart of the Allentown district in Buffalo, NY. We offer fair trade arts, crafts, clothing and coffee direct from artisans and farmers in Latin America. We obtain beautiful handcrafted items from artisans in Central and South America and the Caribbean, for fair prices. In this way, we help provide impoverished individuals from developing countries with a living income and the opportunity to maintain a sustainable lifestyle for themselves and their families. It is also our mission to grow solidarity with and showcase to non-latino people the public the beauty and the value of Latino culture, a resilient lifestyle that has overcome the greatest tests of slavery, poverty, war,
and segregation.

Please go support our new fundraiser. Our mural will address the abuses of human rights and environmental battles that have been a part of human history. From the indigenous colonization by the conquistadors to today's oppressed poor and marginalized people who are still fighting racism, discrimination, and the abuses of Mother Earth, this mural is meant to be a gift to our community.
Our goal is to create a mural that will have a dramatic impact on our neighborhood and our city, to attract attention to social justice issues, and inspire our citizens.

We just want to say thank you to all the people that have donated and shared this fundraiser, we have raised more than 200 dollars and we are very grateful. We ask that if you are not able to donate that you share with family or friends so we can start the project sooner.

Each week we are gonna give updates about the project and also talk about some of the cultural injustices in the past.

Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca was a Spanish conquistador. In 1527 he left on a voyage to the Americas, he had to land in Florida due to a storm, he had 600 men with him. Most of his men died and the ones that were left were captured by the Indigenous people, including Álvar. He was sold from tribe to tribe and transported west. He managed to escape to Mexico and was able to find other Spanish explorers that helped him get back to Spain, he returned to Spain 8 years after he landed in Florida.

El Buen amigo is in need of volunteers with construction experience and roofing licensure.
The “El Bueno Amigo” building is currently under renovation to preserve its historic structure and ensure longevity for the years to come. The founder, Senor Santiago is in the process of rebuilding the over 300 years old building from the ground up and needs your help for the final remaining steps. Currently, the inside walls are in need of a final layer of wood paneling followed by insulation and drywall. The roof must also be replaced and shingles installed. Senor Santiago is all equipped with the materials and tools needed to undergo this project. All that is needed is the manpower! Feel free to contact us with any questions and don’t forget to spread the word!

El Buen Amigo is ready to fulfill another promising contribution to the Buffalo community! This well-anticipated art mural will span the length of both sides of the building's exterior once completed. The mural seeks to illustrate the mistreatment of the natural environment and realities of human injustice. Senor Santiago believes in the power of art to spark the much-needed conversation of change towards peace, unity, and justice. Tag all of your artist friends and share! DM our page with ideas or for more information and volunteer opportunities.
Muchas Gracias

“ESPERANDO EL DESTINO” LAST DAY TIL TODAY NOVEMBER 27 th. FREE OF CHARGE IN AMAZON KINDLE STORE (IN SPANISH) https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=node%3D154606011&field-keywords=esperando+el+destino&rh=n%3A154606011%2Ck%3Aesperando+el+destino A story that begins in a charity party in the south of Spain; continues through Asunción, capital of Paraguay; ciudad del Este, capital of unlawful activities and finishes in Buenos Aires. Our now friends, Jordi Gonorria, economist who also plays the role of amateur “chef” and the former police inspector Quito Verdudo, rub shoulders with the human trafficking mafia and with the politicians that rig them. A tough story, traced by a doomed fate, that even though some passages may amuse us, in others load us with the anguish produced by this modern way of enslaving and abusing of the helpless. As it is already a custom, they are accompanied by the usual friends and characters emerged from the story, the literature and even from the movies. And they end up stumbling with astonishing revelations of current issues which the media published in front pages not long ago. In the itinerary, our economist-cook some time enjoys and others bears his emotional and erotic hieroglyphs. And he makes time to offer us delicious dishes, kitchen stories and hot news about economy and economists. www.cortemoslacarajo.blogspot.com
