Richardson buildings, creating an Architecture and Visitor Center and reviving the Olmsted landscape of the original Buffalo State Asylum for the Insane is so much more than just saving an historic landmark. Rehabilitation of the Richardson is the mission of the Richardson Center Corporation, a not for profit 501(c)(3) organization. The Richardson Architecture Center board, also a not for profit 501(c)(3), oversees the development of the Architecture and Visitor Center.

On Saturday June 1st, join us at the Burchfield Penney Art Center for a panel on preservation hosted by PreservationWorks. Preservation comes in many forms, and here you will learn about the different ways that developers, locals, architecture aficionados, and even urban explorers all come together when it comes to historic preservation.

Collectively, you will hear from people involved at various Kirkbride Hospitals and other historic properties around the country including Greystone, Athens, Hudson River State Hospital, Danvers State Hospital, Westborough State Hospital, Kings Park, Cressen Sanatorium & Prison, Buffalo Central Terminal, and of course, the Richardson Olmsted Campus.

We are happy to welcome back Monica Pellegrino Faix from the Central Terminal, as well as Joe Recchie from Athens to discuss the ongoing projects at their respective properties.

Once again, a special thanks to PreservationWorks for partnering with us on this incredible program.

The event is free, and you can use the link below to register: https://m.bpt.me/event/6301969

The stabilization project includes a new roof for the connector and main building, new gutters, masonry repairs and hazardous materials removal. Total cost for the stabilization project the non-profit is managing is over $750k.
