50,000 meals. Nearly 300 volunteers. One incredible impact!!

A heartfelt thank you to Citi and US Hunger for hosting a meal-packing event that created 50,000 jambalaya meals to help address food insecurity across Western New York.

These meals were shared between the Buffalo City Mission and FeedMore WNY, ensuring more of our neighbors have access to nutritious food when they need it most.

To the nearly 300 Citi volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and got to work; thank you for your generosity, energy, and commitment to our community. Together, we are making a difference. 💙

The Buffalo City Mission is hiring!

We are currently looking for compassionate, dependable individuals to join our team as:
• Kitchen Staff
• Resident Assistants

Our kitchen staff provide more than meals. They create moments of comfort, dignity, and care for men, women, and children walking through some of the hardest seasons of their lives. A warm meal can be the first reminder to someone that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

Our Resident Assistants are often the steady presence residents rely on every day. They help create a safe, supportive environment while encouraging, guiding, and walking alongside individuals as they rebuild their lives. Sometimes the smallest conversations can make the biggest impact.

Openings are available at both our Men’s Shelter and Women’s Shelter.

If you have a heart for serving others and want your work to truly matter, we would love to hear from you.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to pause and remember something important:

Behind many stories of homelessness is also a story of emotional pain, trauma, anxiety, depression, loss, or mental health struggles.

For some, homelessness worsens mental health.

For others, mental health challenges contributed to the loss of stability in the first place.

But no one should be reduced to their hardest moment.

At the Buffalo City Mission, we believe every person deserves dignity, compassion, safety, and the opportunity to heal. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer someone is not just a meal or a bed, but a listening ear, encouragement, stability, and the reminder that their life still has value and purpose.

Mental health matters.
Hope matters.
People matter.

Please continue to pray for our neighbors experiencing homelessness, for those silently struggling, and for the staff and supporters who walk alongside them every day.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a reminder that freedom comes at a great cost, paid for by those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We thank God for the freedoms we have, for the men and women who defended them, and for His continued grace over our nation.

May we never take their sacrifice for granted.

Summer may slow down, but the needs at the Buffalo City Mission continue every day. Right now, we are especially in need of men’s & women’s shorts, new twin xl bedding, and new men’s underwear.

Would your church, workplace, or community group consider hosting a donation drive this summer? Every item collected helps provide comfort, dignity, and hope to those we serve.

To set up a drive, email [email protected] for more information.

Something truly beautiful happened at Cornerstone Manor yesterday.

For the first time ever, the women in our program planned a surprise Staff Appreciation Day for our team.

They transformed the dining room into something that looked like a gala, beautifully decorated with so much thought and care.

Each staff member was presented with an award, and every detail was planned by the residents themselves.

It was more than a celebration. It was a reflection of the relationships being built inside these walls.

The women wanted our staff to know they feel seen, cared for, encouraged, and guided through some of the hardest moments of their lives. Seeing residents take the time to honor the people walking alongside them was incredibly powerful.

At Cornerstone Manor, it is so much more than providing shelter. It is compassion, trust, encouragement, and healing happening day by day.

To our staff: thank you for loving people well.
And to the women who planned this unforgettable surprise: thank you for reminding all of us why this work matters so deeply. ❤️

A heartfelt thank you the Buffalo Bills players and staff who spent the evening serving dinner at the Buffalo City Mission. ❤️💙

Not only did they serve dinner, they took the time to sit with our residents and guests, share conversations, listen to stories, and simply be present. Those moments of kindness and connection mean more than words can say.

Go Bills!!!!
