Transportation can be a challenge for many of the residents we serve.

Buffalo City Mission has three vehicles available to assist residents with specific transportation needs, including a wheelchair-accessible van for those with mobility needs.

Our vans are used for medical and personal appointments, educational outings, and even moving residents into new housing. It’s one of the many practical ways we support our residents throughout their time at the Mission.

What is the first thing someone in crisis is offered when they walk through our doors? A freshly prepared meal.

Meals at Buffalo City Mission are prepared and served daily. Each one is thoughtfully made to provide consistency, care, and nourishment for people facing difficult circumstances.

Behind every meal is a team of staff and volunteers, along with the generosity of donors, working diligently to ensure our guests are welcomed with dignity and compassion from the moment they arrive.

For veterans facing homelessness or housing instability, finding a path forward requires more than just shelter. It takes understanding, connection, and the right support to rebuild.

Through our Veterans Program, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Buffalo City Mission provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, individualized support, and resources to help veterans regain stability and independence.

Recognizing the value of shared military experiences and camaraderie, we offer dedicated spaces where veterans can live together. These include the Russell J. Salvatore Veterans Wing, an emergency shelter dorm made possible by the generosity of veteran and philanthropist Russell Salvatore, as well as dedicated transitional housing suites.

Last year, Buffalo City Mission served nearly 100 veterans in crisis.

Our veterans answered the call to serve our country. Now, it is our community’s responsibility to ensure they are not forgotten when they need us most. We are honored to stand alongside them as they work toward a new beginning.

They stuffed the van… AGAIN! 💚

Our friends at Whole Foods Market once again filled our refrigerated van with fresh, nutritious food during their annual “Stuff The Van” event!

Last year, they generously donated that very van to the Buffalo City Mission through their Nourishing Our Neighborhoods program. And they haven’t stopped showing up for our community since!

Our team from the Buffalo City Mission spent Bills Sunday selling 50/50 tickets for Huddle for Hunger, helping raise funds for local charities working to fight food insecurity across Western New York.

And Bills Mafia — you kept us BUSY! 🎟️😂

A huge THANK YOU to every single person who stopped, bought a ticket, joked around with our team and supported the cause. That’s Buffalo.

And thank you to the Buffalo Bills Foundation and Wegmans for an awesome week of Huddle for Hunger and for using Bills football to rally this community around our neighbors.

We had an absolute blast.

Great cause. Great crowd. Bills win. Not a bad Sunday. 🦬🏈❤️💙
