As Director of Clinical Services, Nicole oversees the clinical treatment services provided to individuals and families in the Child and Family Services Outpatient Program. Her clinical supervision spans from consultation on high-risk cases and crisis intervention to participating in audits, case reviews and policy changes.

This month, we celebrate Black History, which is to say we celebrate American History. The theme for 2024 Black History Month is “African Americans and The Arts." As we highlight and celebrate this theme throughout the Agency, we are reminded of the depth of impact of the Black American lived experience in every field of visual, expressive and performing arts including literature, fashion, music, food, language, film, poetry, dance and more. We celebrate the presence and deep influence of Black art and culture in every facet of our lives, this month and every month.

This month, Mike Pawarski celebrated 25 years of service on the C+FS Facilities team! Mike was recruited to C+FS by his father, Mike Pawarski, Sr., who worked for many years maintaining several properties, including the Falk Rossler campus and Child and Family Services' Community Residence.

"Mike, or Jr. as we call him, has worked for both C+FS and the Stanley G. Falk School," said Monica Bruce, Director of Facilities Planning and Operations. "He is currently stationed at 330 Delaware and is always on top of keeping the interior and exterior of the building immaculate and safe for our clients and staff members."

Mike has been involved with major construction projects over the years, including several rounds of renovations at 330 Delaware and other projects throughout the Delaware campus. Recently, he was involved with the Boiler replacements at 330 Delaware which required new system controls training.

"Mike takes pride in his work, works well with his colleagues and is diligent in responding to the needs of our staff and clients," said Ian Long, Chief Financial Officer. "Over the years, Mike has assisted with staff shortages at various locations, including the Falk School. He is committed to the Agency’s mission, which is reflected in his positive daily work attitude."

Congratulations on achieving this incredible milestone! We are proud to have you on our team, Mike!

Please give a round of applause 👏 for Ian Long, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and today’s Faces of Child and Family Services feature.

For just shy of 24 years, Ian has led the charge as CFO of Child and Family Services. As the lead administrator of C+FS’ finances, his role supports the inner and outer workings of C+FS by connecting financial resources with the needs of our organization.

Ian’s passion for rewarding community services extends beyond the doors of Child and Family Services. He currently serves as Chair of the Health and Wellness Insurance Consortium, which is comprised of several non-profit organizations, including C+FS.

We’re grateful for Ian’s hard work that ensures operations within the organization continue to run smoothly. By securing our future financial health and planning, his work ensures our organization can continue to do the meaningful work we love to do.

Thank you so much, Ian, for everything you do.

C+FS thanks Governor Kathy Hochul for including $120 million in the Executive Budget to ensure funding for crime victim service providers such as our own Haven House and Center for Resolution and Justice.

NYLAG's work with survivors of domestic violence puts us in a coalition of fellow survivor service providers and advocates throughout New York. As we collectively faced deep cuts to federal VOCA funding, we called on Governor Hochul to fill the gap so we could continue providing the vital services we do for survivors—and we're so grateful she heard our call.

Today, we celebrate and commemorate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a freedom fighter for the oppressed and a champion of racial, economic and social justice and equity. The work of Dr. King is incomplete. It is exactly in these times where we feel the weight of the work to be done that we must remember these words that echo through time.

Today marks the first day of Kwanzaa, a celebration of African heritage and values that takes place from December 26th to January 1st. During Kwanzaa, families and communities come together to light the Kinara, a candleholder with seven candles, one for each day and principle. As we celebrate Umoja, the principle of unity, let us remember that our collective action is stronger than our individual circumstances. We are better together.
