So what is supportive counseling? 🤔

MOCHA’s supportive counseling is a low-pressure, easy way to start getting support for your mental health and working toward your goals.

Our counselor can meet with you in person or virtually for up to 6 sessions, and can connect you to longer-term mental health services, psychiatry, or crisis services if needed.

Counseling is available for men of color ages 13-29. Stop by MOCHA at 200 S. Elmwood Ave to get started!

Did you know that for most people, Hepatitis C can be cured in 8 weeks of treatment with very few side effects?

Hep C is a liver infection that can be passed through contact with an infected person’s blood. Because many people with Hep C don’t have any symptoms, the only way to know if you have Hep C is to get tested. Regular testing is especially important for people who use or have used intravenous drugs.

Today, as we remember the ten beautiful lives who were taken from us on May 14, 2022, we want to share the powerful words of our friends at Clementine Gold Group, who are leading today’s 5/14 Day of Service & Remembrance:

"The 5/14 Day of Service & Remembrance is one of many ways we hold space for grief, honor the people we lost, and affirm the right of Black communities to safety, dignity, and care.

We also recognize the survivors—those who were in the store that day, the witnesses, the families who carry this loss, and the neighbors who have been retraumatized each time they return to that place.

We have not forgotten. We will not look away. In their memory, and in community, we continue forward—with care, with purpose, and with each other."

What do you know about HPV?

💛 It’s so common that most people who are sexually active will have HPV at some point
đź’›For most people HPV goes away on its own within a few years, but in some cases it can stay in the body long-term, leading to changes that if left untreated can become cancer
💛 There’s a vaccine that can protect you and your partners against the HPV variants that lead to risk of cancer
đź’›HPV can be detected through testing, which lets your provider monitor it over time and detect changes to your cells before they lead to cancer
