This past Saturday, members of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Community Engagement Team were proud to attend the Town of Clarence Community Wellness Day hosted by the Clarence Family Support Center.

The event brought together local organizations, families, and community members for a great day focused on wellness, connection, and community support. CET members enjoyed speaking with residents, meeting families, and sharing information about the many programs and resources available throughout Erie County.

Today also marked the debut of the Community Engagement Team’s patrol bikes! 🚴‍♂️ Throughout the summer, CET members will be utilizing the bikes while patrolling local bike paths and attending community events across Erie County. The bike patrols allow deputies to interact more directly with residents, increase visibility, and continue building positive relationships throughout the communities we serve.

Thank you to the Clarence Family Support Center and everyone involved for putting together such a great event!

Despite the rainy weather this morning, students from Sheridan Hill Elementary still showed up ready to ride, and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Community Engagement Team was proud to assist with their Bike to School event. 🚴‍♂️🌧️

The wet conditions certainly didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the students, staff, parents, and volunteers who participated. CET members helped es**rt riders, assist with traffic safety, and ensure everyone arrived safely while encouraging healthy activity and community involvement.

Events like this are a great reminder that strong communities are built through teamwork, positivity, and showing up, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Keep an eye out this year, as members of the Community Engagement Team will continue patrolling on bikes and attending events throughout Erie County all spring and summer long. 🚲💙💛

***SCAM ALERT***

The Erie County Sheriff's Office and our law enforcement partners have received multiple reports this week of fraudulent sales involving Buffalo Sabres tickets. Scammers know residents of Western New York have playoff fever, and they won't hesitate to take advantage of it.

When searching for tickets to any event, consumers are advised to utilize verified ticket partners. Ticketmaster is the official marketplace of the Sabres. All resale tickets purchased through Ticketmaster are 100% verified and authenticated, according to the team. Tickets purchased through social media cannot be guaranteed to be legitimate.

Members of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Community Engagement Team (CET) have been assisting with water distribution efforts in the Town of Elma over the past two days.

Working alongside the Town of Elma Highway Department, Elma Fire Company, and Blossom Fire Company, this has been a true team effort focused on supporting residents and ensuring the community has access to essential resources.

These moments highlight the importance of the relationships we’ve built within our community. By working together with our local partners, we’re able to respond quickly, coordinate effectively, and deliver assistance where it’s needed most.

We’re proud to stand alongside our partners in service to the residents of Elma.

***Attention All Parents - Please Read***

Already this year, we are seeing an increase in reckless e-bike activity involving teenagers throughout the Town of Ogden and Village of Spencerport. Our officers have responded to multiple crashes involving e-bikes, and the warm weather isn’t even here yet. Yesterday, at 5:30pm, two juveniles on an electric dirt bike ran a red light and collided with a vehicle at one of the busiest intersections in the Village. Thankfully, the outcome wasn’t worse, but next time, it could be. See the photo below.

Parents, we need your help. We are genuinely concerned that someone is going to be seriously injured or killed if this continues. E-bikes are fast, quiet, and often operated without an understanding of the rules of the road or the risks involved. What may seem like harmless fun can quickly turn into a life-altering situation without you even knowing. Not to mention, if your child is at fault, the damages from collisions are coming out of your pocket.

We are asking you to please take a few minutes to talk with your children about safe and lawful operation, remind them that traffic signals and rules apply to them, and make sure they understand where they can and cannot ride.

Both the Village of Spencerport and the Town of Ogden have adopted local laws restricting where e-bikes may be operated. These laws are in place for safety not to take away fun.

Our goal is simple: keep our roads safe for everyone — drivers, pedestrians, and riders alike.

Members of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Community Engagement Team (CET), including Deputy Dreyer and K9 Zeke, along with Deputy Mohawk, were proud to attend the Town of Collins Senior Center luncheon.

During the event, our deputies spoke with attendees about the Yellow Dot Program—an initiative designed to provide first responders with critical medical information in the event of an emergency. They also discussed several common scams that continue to target seniors and offered practical tips on how to recognize and avoid them.

We are always grateful for the opportunity to connect with members of our community, share important safety information, and help keep our residents informed and protected.
