It was great to see so many people out celebrating National Night Out across the 61st Senate District.

My staff had the opportunity to attend the City of Tonawanda and KenTon events, where families, first responders, and community organizations came together for a fun evening.

Together with Assemblymember Karen McMahon, it was an honor to recognize Cruz Ramos and Daniel Girzone for their extraordinary courage and life-saving actions.

When a fellow Williamsville South student suffered cardiac arrest, they stepped forward without hesitation, helping administer CPR and use an AED until first responders arrived. Their bravery, selflessness, and ability to remain calm under pressure helped save a life.

I was proud to present each of them with a New York State Senate Commendation Award in recognition of their heroism and the remarkable example they have set for our community.

Yesterday, members of my staff attended Congressman Tim Kennedy and future House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries' press conference to underscore the devastating impact the so-called "Big Ugly Bill" is already having on working families.

One year later, the consequences are clear: higher healthcare costs, reduced access to care, and deeper Medicaid cuts still on the horizon. Healthcare is a necessity, not a political bargaining chip. I'll continue standing with our federal partners to fight these harmful cuts and protect access to affordable, quality healthcare for every New Yorker.
