Another wonderful trip into Buhl's past!

While exploring archived editions of the Buhl Herald, we came across a special newspaper from December 7, 1978. The edition featured the new school and provided a fascinating look back at the history of Buhl Schools up to that point, preserving stories and memories that helped shape our community.

Pictured here is the Buhl High School Class of 1915β€”a remarkable glimpse into the students and educators who were part of Buhl's early years. Looking at these faces reminds us how much has changed over the decades, while also highlighting the traditions, pride, and community spirit that continue today.

We are still enjoying these journeys into the past and discovering the stories that connect us to generations before us. If you recognize any names or families from the Class of 1915, we'd love to hear your memories and connections in the comments!

πŸ”πŸŽ‰ HOOK HAS BEEN FOUND... AGAIN! πŸŽ‰πŸ”

Our adventurous friend Hook was located not once, but twice recently!

Last week, Hook was spending some quality time at BookHeaven, enjoying the wonderful selection of books. A big THANK YOU to BookHeaven for keeping an eye on Hook while he explored the shelves and discovered new stories. We are so fortunate to have a bookstore right here in Buhl that encourages reading and community connections! πŸ“šβ€οΈ

This week, Hook was spotted at a new location around town, keeping everyone guessing and having fun along the way!

Congratulations to our latest winners, who will receive tickets to the June 20th Speedway event and delicious ice cream cones from Arctic Circle! 🍦🏁

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the search and helped make this community activity such a success. Keep watching our pageβ€” and looking for Hook in local businesses - you never know where Hook might turn up next!

As we get closer to the Fourth of July, I've been enjoying a trip through Buhl's history.

While looking through a scrapbook from 1954–1955, I came across a photograph from the July 4, 1954 parade featuring the Buhl Pioneers who settled here before 1908. That photograph is now 72 years old and captures a remarkable group of individuals who helped shape our community.

Also tucked away with these historical treasures was a handwritten notebook containing the names and addresses of Buhl Pioneers who arrived before 1911. These records provide a fascinating connection to the men and women whose hard work, determination, and vision helped build the Buhl we know today.

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, it's a wonderful reminder of our community's rich heritage and the generations who came before us.

Do you recognize any of the pioneer family names? We would love to hear your stories, memories, and connections to Buhl's early days in the comments!

β€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™ Happy Fourth of July from the Buhl Chamber of Commerce!

Buhl History for June πŸ“Έ

We found another great photo in our archives and wanted to share it with you! This picture features the old Buhl Arctic Circle. We're not exactly sure what year it was taken, but one thing that caught our eye was the price of hamburgersβ€”just 21 cents!

Did you know? The Buhl Arctic Circle helped start a tradition that many locals still appreciate today. At the request of the Buhl community, their small burgers were served without ketchup. The idea became so popular that it began spreading to other Arctic Circle locations as wellβ€”all thanks to Buhl!

Do you remember visiting the old Arctic Circle? We'd love to hear your memories, stories, and favorite menu items in the comments below.

πŸ“Έ Another Glimpse Into Buhl's Past! πŸ“Έ

Here's another photo from our archives!

From what we can tell, this picture was taken sometime between 1956 and 1960. During that era, the surrounding valley was home to more than 600,000 acres of fertile irrigated farmland, producing a wide variety of crops, including the world-famous Idaho potato.

From its modest beginnings of just a few buildings and several families serving the needs of surrounding homesteaders, Buhl had grown into a modern, thriving community of more than 3,000 residents. At the same time, the surrounding homesteads expanded into a vibrant agricultural and trading region that helped shape Southern Idaho.

We love preserving and sharing these pieces of local history. If you recognize anything in this photo, have memories to share, or can provide additional information about when or where it was taken, please let us know in the comments!

BUHL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE – SAGEBRUSH DAYS PARADE ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE

The Buhl Chamber of Commerce would like to remind everyone attending Sagebrush Days that road closures for this year's parade will be much stricter due to new Idaho Transportation Department requirements.

Soft road closures will begin at 8:30 a.m., with hard closures taking effect at 9:00 a.m. Once the hard closures are in place, no traffic will be allowed through the parade route or closure areas, except emergency vehicles responding to an active call.

If you plan to attend the parade, please arrive early. Once you're parked, take advantage of the morning by enjoying the pancake breakfast, stopping by a local coffee shop, or spending time visiting with neighbors and friends before the parade begins.

If you need to get to work or have other commitments, please plan ahead and arrive before the road closures take effect. Give yourself extra travel time and expect delays.

Road closures will extend approximately one mile outside of Buhl on all sides of town. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review the official road closure map in advance to determine which routes will be affected.

Most roads will reopen shortly after the parade concludes. However, please note that additional road closures will remain in place around Eastman Park until 4:00 p.m. for Sagebrush Days activities.

The Buhl Chamber of Commerce appreciates your patience and cooperation as we work to provide a safe and enjoyable celebration for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at Sagebrush Days!
