Wow—what an incredible final Interim Council of the 89th Legislative Year!

Congratulations to Hannah Byers, Lieutenant Governor-elect for the 90th Legislative Year, on passing her first-ever resolution, co-authored with Western Carolina University.

Congratulations as well to Savannah Pierson and Ashylnn Humphrey on passing their resolution—especially Ashylnn’s first!

A huge congratulations to Gary Talbert for passing his first-ever resolution. Regarding Rail Depot Preservation Grants in North Carolina, and earning both Best Speaker and Best Resolution of the day!

While this final Interim Council was bittersweet as we close out the year, we are so excited for Annual Session in April and the start of the 90th Legislative Year.

We are so proud to recognize two of our outstanding leaders, Hannah Byers and Kai Horn, for their continued impact both on campus and statewide.

We are excited to see them highlighted in Campbell’s strong presence at the recent North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) Ethics Bowl, where Campbell students demonstrated excellence in ethical reasoning, professionalism, and leadership.

Hannah Byers serves as our Vice Delegation Chairperson and as the Eastern Region District Councilor for NCSL.

Kai Horn serves as a delegate and as the Vice Chief of Staff to the Governor. In his statewide role, Kai helps coordinate initiatives and support the Governor’s Office while remaining actively engaged in delegation initiatives here at Campbell.

We are incredibly proud of both Hannah and Kai for representing Campbell with integrity, leadership, and dedication. Their service reflects the mission of NCSL and the strength of the Campbell delegation.

Please join us in celebrating their accomplishments! 🎉

Today’s Interim Council at Belmont Abbey marked the first event of the spring semester, and it was a strong start for our delegation as the largest in attendance. Our members were actively engaged throughout the day, taking on leadership roles and contributing to discussion on the floor. It was also great to see new schools in attendance and the fresh debate and perspectives they brought!!

Congratulations to Axel Ruiz on being sworn in as Sergeant at Arms, and to Axel Ruiz and Heather Helms on their appointments to the Statewide Judiciary Committee.

Congratulations to Hannah Byers on her appointment as Eastern District Councilor.

Finally, congratulations to Bella Lane on passing her first-ever resolution, “A Resolution Concerning Term Limits for North Carolina’s General Assembly Legislators.”

Overall, we had a great first Interim Council of the spring semester, and we’re excited to keep building on this momentum.

Merry Christmas from the Campbell Delegation!!! Enjoy your time with your loved ones today!!
