On Thursday July 30th, while Bull Shoals Police Officers were performing daily patrol duties they conducted a warrant arrest on suspect, Thomas Valentine. As officers went to detain Valentine, he began to flee on foot. After a short foot chase, officers were able to reach Valentine with the assistance of a civilian who had intervened. A brief altercation occurred resulting in officers placing Valentine under arrest. Valentine had requested to be checked out for medical issues, was cleared by Baxter Ambulance, and transported to the Marion County Detention Center. Valentine is currently being held for his warrants as well as additional charges of:

One (1) count of Resisting Arrest a Class (A) Misdemeanor
One (1) count of Fleeing a Class (C) Misdemeanor

Valentine has various bonds on his charges as well as a “No bond” for one of his warrants. The identity of the civilian involved will not be released due to the respect for the privacy of the family. No injuries were sustained by anyone involved.

Due to an increase in citizen complaints regarding speeding and traffic complaints on our main roads and residential side streets, the Bull Shoals Police Department will be increasing traffic enforcement throughout the city.

Our goal is to improve the safety of everyone who lives, works, and travels in our community. Officers will be conducting additional speed enforcement in areas where excessive speeding has been reported.

We ask all motorists to:
• Obey posted speed limits
• Obey traffic all traffic signs.
• Slow down in residential neighborhoods.
• Stay alert and drive responsibly.
