It's turtle season! 🐢
It's the time of year where turtles are moving and that means they're crossing roads.

The Bull Shoal's Police Department has seen a high amount of turtle traffic on the city streets and like to stop and help them on their way whenever we can.

If you're a turtle helper too, please remember these do's and don'ts:
DO:
- Help them cross in the direction they were heading. If you take them back the other way, they will just cross the road again. 🤓
- Handle them with care, they don't appreciate being shaken like a maraca 💃

DON'T:
- Put your finger near their face, they might bite 😬
- Throw the turtle, they aren't footballs 🏈
- Jump on the turtles, they don't roll away like the turtles in the Mario games 😱

On Thursday April 23rd, Bull Shoals Police Officers responded to an animal complaint on Allendale Dr. with suspect, Christopher Smith. Officers attempted to issue Smith a warning when Smith became confrontational and threatened to shoot officers on scene. An altercation occurred resulting in officers placing Smith under arrest and transporting him to the Marion County Detention Center where he is currently being held on charges of:

Two (2) counts of Terroristic Threatening a Class “D” Felony, One (1) count of Interference with a law enforcement or code enforcement officer a Class “C” Felony, One (1) count of Resisting Arrest a Class “A” Misdemeanor, and One (1) count of Disorderly Conduct a Class “C” Misdemeanor.

Smith was booked in without bond until his first appearance before a judge. After his first appearance, he was given $3,500 cash or professional bond. No injuries were sustained by anyone in the initial contact.

The Bull Shoals Police Department wants to give a big thanks to the citizens of Bull Shoals and from the surrounding communities for all they contributed to the Fill-a-Cruiser event held Monday, April 20th. The donations were stacked high and there were carts full by the end of it.

It goes to show how good of a community you have by how much they will be there for one another, and we are happy that we get to serve such a great community. Thank you to all who were able to donate and for those who couldn't and would like to donate in the future, please go up or call the Food Pantry yourself and see what they need!

Thank you to the Bull Shoals Food Pantry for letting us put on this event for you and thank you to Blackbird Coffeehouse for the use of your business parking lot for the event.
