Last summer, our Boating Unit issued 57 Operating Under the Influence (OUI) citations on the water. To put that into perspective, Bullhead City alone accounted for nearly 45% of all OUI arrests statewide among every law enforcement agency in Arizona.

Our stretch of the Colorado River is one of the busiest and most challenging boating environments in the state. That’s why our Boating Unit remains proactive and highly visible to keep everyone safe on the water.

Our message is simple: if you operate while intoxicated, you will be arrested.

We want everyone to enjoy a safe and fun weekend on the river. Please do your part by being responsible and helping keep our waterways safe for everyone.

REMINDER- SHOOT RESPONSIBLY - For those shooting in the desert area off Silver Creek Road, please be aware that Bullhead City limits extend 3.3 miles east of Bullhead Parkway. Posted signs mark the boundary. Arizona law also makes it unlawful to shoot within one mile of any occupied structure or structure that could be occupied, including vehicles.

Relevant statutes:
• ARS 13-3107.C8 – Exceptions do not apply when occupied structures or vehicles are present on Silver Creek Road. Vehicles are considered occupied structures under ARS 13-3101.
• ARS 13-3107.C3 – Hunting during an open Arizona Game & Fish season is limited to one-fourth mile from an occupied structure.

This is not just a technical violation. Residents in the Laredo Village neighborhood have previously reported criminal damage where bullets from illegal shooting in the desert area struck occupied homes.

Please know the law, know the boundaries and shoot responsibly.

S*X OFFENDER NOTIFICATION - “Megan’s Law” requires law enforcement authorities to make information available to the public regarding level 2 & 3 registered s*x offenders. S*x offender notifications are not intended to increase fear; instead, we believe that an informed community is a safer community and will not tolerate people who use the information to threaten, intimidate or harass offenders.
Concerned residents can search for s*x offenders (level 2 & 3) at Offender Watch: https://communitynotification.com/cap_main.php?office=55590
Citizens may enter any address of interest to them and see a map and listing of offenders within their preferred radius of that address. Then, they may confidentially register the address to be continuously monitored by the agency, which will send to them an email alerting them if an offender or predator should move near their registered address. Usually, citizens will register their homes, work addresses, parks, playgrounds, bus stops or other addresses of interest to them. Citizens may also confidentially register to be notified if a specific offender, who they wish to track, moves from their present address. Citizens may register as many addresses as they like, at no cost.
