Dear Parents and Guardians,

Bullhead City Middle School values the partnership between home and school and recognizes the important role families play in student success.

We invite you to review our Parent and Family Engagement Policy and provide any feedback or suggestions you may have. Your input helps us improve our school programs, strengthen communication and collaboration with families, and better support the academic success of all students.

Please take a few moments to head to our Dojo page and review the document. We would greatly appreciate your feedback as we work together to create the best possible educational experience for your child.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT BCMS STUDENTS’ OFF-CAMPUS BEHAVIOR

With a little more than one month left in the school year, some students are pushing the envelope, believing that unacceptable behavior once they leave our campus has no consequences. As principal, I’m here to remind you as parents and guardians that assumption is wrong.

Intimidation, harassment and bullying are not tolerated, either by Bullhead City School District policy or Arizona State law. We have had students blatantly tell us to our faces that once the final bell rings, their bad behavior toward fellow students or area businesses is none of our concern, and they insist there’s nothing we can or will do.

Some of these problems start off campus and are brought to school; some are the other way around. If there’s a school connection (and that includes school buses), the law is very clear: disciplinary action is possible … and probable. If a student is walking to or from school, not only can we enact discipline, but the Bullhead City Police Department may get involved if there’s criminal activity – just as officers can on campus.

If one of our students bothers a local business or its employees to or from school, those businesses not only have a right to prohibit future entry, they also have the right to call the police.

Every school has parents who are dismayed when they learn that their child misbehaves, either on or off campus. We encourage you to talk to your children about consequences that could follow them for a long time.

The student handbook you and your child acknowledged outlines various expectations at BCMS and throughout the school district. To read the policies we’re citing, please see https://policies.sparqdata.com/asba/browse/bullhead/bullhead/JIC in general, and https://policies.sparqdata.com/asba/browse/bullhead/bullhead/JICK in particular. You can also check out Arizona Revised Statutes 13-105, 13-2911, 15-341, 15-507, 15-841, 15-842 and 15-843.

As always, you’re welcome to reach out to me with any questions.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Sharpe

To celebrate our wonderful SRO, Officer Chapman, our school's Media Club interviewed him so our students and community could learn a little more about him. REMINDER ...

BCSD ONLINE SURVEY TO GAUGE & IMPROVE
PARENTAL ENGAGEMENT AND INVOLVEMENT
ENDS NEXT WEEK

The Bullhead City School District's semiannual fall survey for parents and guardians to help improve relationships between families and schools has just over a week left. Surveys are anonymous, and no personally identifying information can be tracked or maintained.

Designed by Panorama Education, the survey is designed to help educators use data to improve student outcomes. It also helps the district find ways to better reach and involve parents and guardians.

BCSD’s survey is online at https://surveys.panoramaed.com/crsk12az/familyfall2025/surveys .

“Students with involved parents are proven to have better academic performance, social and interaction skills and self-confidence, with fewer behavioral and disciplinary issues,” said Jennifer Lott, BCSD’s director of educational services. “Parental involvement is crucial, not only for students, but for their schools’ entire education team.”

It takes less than three minutes to complete the 33-question multiple choice survey. Topics include parents’ perceptions of school, engagement and communication barriers, and general background questions. Parents with students in more than one BCSD school have the option to complete more than one survey, which will close on October 24. Results will be presented to the public during an upcoming BCSD governing board meeting.

Survey costs are covered by a grant and do not come out of BCSD’s local operating budget. Parent surveys are normally conducted semi-annually – once in the fall and once in the spring.
