Station 1 firefighters participated in a training night focused on pump operations and hands-on skills development. Continuous training helps ensure our personnel remain prepared to serve the community safely and effectively.
To wrap up the evening, crews enjoyed a well-earned ice cream treat together after training

I would like to recognize Firefighter Wes Hanner for his continued dedication to serving our community, not only during emergencies, but also through public outreach and around the firehouse.
When Wes learned that a young man in our community needed a firefighter costume for his kindergarten graduation, he went above and beyond to find exactly what was needed. To make the experience even more special, he topped it off with a tour of the firehouse.
Great work, Wes, and thank you for representing our department and community so well

Excellent work by our crews in Shipman in handling the call for help from Brighton FD. This was one of the multiple emergency calls they responded to on Sunday.

At 13:17, the Brighton Fire Department responded to a reported attached garage fire in the vicinity of Cove Drive. Brighton Police arrived within minutes and advised of heavy fire showing and spread to the adjacent residence to the west. Upon arrival, first units encountered two split foyer style residences, one heavily and one partially involved. Firefighters executed an aggressive attack on both structures. Several factors impeded fire extinguishment efforts due to rapid fire spread caused by high winds. We would like to extend our appreciation to mutual aid departments who provided assistance: Godfrey Fire, Fosterburg Fire, Medora Fire, Bunker Hill FPD, and Alton Memorial Hospital EMS for medical standby services. We would also like to thank our Fire Department Auxiliary and our community for the support. We had several people bring out water and Gatorade to our firefighters.

Yesterday was a busy and rewarding day for BHFPD. Our crews were present at the ball diamonds for opening day, and Station 1 hosted an open house. We greatly appreciated the opportunity to connect with community members, meet new faces, and spend meaningful time engaging with those we serve.

Yesterday around 4pm BHFPD received a call for a silo on fire near a barn. Units from both stations responded.

Thanks to our departments quick response, professionalism, and coordinated efforts, the crew was able to contain the fire and successfully save the farm building along with all of the valuable equipment inside. Incidents like these are challenging and dangerous, but their training and dedication made all the difference.
This is a great example of the commitment our firefighters show every day to protect lives, property, and our community.Shipman Firefighters Association / Shipman Fire Department
