A person fighting cancer shouldn't have to fight a government form. Someone living with HIV shouldn't have to prove they're sick enough to deserve healthcare. Working families shouldn't be one missed document away from losing coverage.
Meanwhile, billionaires and corporations get loopholes, subsidies, and tax breaks.
A society reveals its values by how it treats its most vulnerable people. More and more, we're being told that if you're sick, struggling, disabled, elderly, or poor, you're on your own.
According to NPR, people with conditions such as cancer or HIV may no longer qualify for automatic exemptions and could be required to prove their illness prevents them from working in order to keep Medicaid coverage. Advocates and health policy experts warn that the new rules could disrupt treatment and cause eligible people to lose insurance because of administrative requirements.

Adults on Medicaid will be required to work 80 hours per month. The Trump administration says people who are sick will have to prove they are too sick to work to be exempt from the new work rules.
