UPDATE: SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

The Carter County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to report that Peter Taylor has been taken into custody.

Following an approximately 14-hour operation, deputies successfully located Taylor and took him into custody near the original incident scene.

The Carter County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere appreciation to the many law enforcement officers and partner agencies who assisted throughout this operation. We also thank the citizens of Carter County for their patience, cooperation, and the information provided during the investigation.

At this time, there is no ongoing threat to the public related to this incident.

As always, we ask the public to allow the investigation and judicial process to proceed. Additional information will be released when appropriate.

I would like to extend my gratitude for their donation and emphasize the importance of prioritizing safety while performing our duties. It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of one of our own, Reserve Deputy Tyler “Ty” Beasley, Badge #5509.

Ty was more than just a part-time reserve deputy—he was a dedicated public servant, a teammate, and a friend. He wore his badge with pride and served his community with integrity, compassion, and a willingness to step up whenever he was needed. His commitment did not go unnoticed, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ty’s family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. We ask that you keep them in your hearts as we remember and honor his service and the impact he made on our department and community.

Rest easy, 5509. Your watch has ended, but your legacy will not be forgotten.

Bunker Police Department – Public Notice

The Bunker Police Department is asking all residents to please take care of vehicles that are creating an overabundance in certain areas of town.

Posted below is the City Ordinance regarding this issue. Property owners and vehicle owners will be given two (2) weeks from today, March 11, 2026, to have all vehicles repaired, removed, or otherwise brought into compliance.

All vehicles must be addressed no later than March 25, 2026. After this date, citations and fines may be issued in accordance with the City Ordinance.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping keep the City of Bunker clean, safe, and orderly.

The Reynolds County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest condolences to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, and to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deputy who was tragically lost in the line of duty.

The loss of a law enforcement officer is felt far beyond the boundaries of one community. It is a solemn reminder of the risks taken every day by those who choose to serve and protect others. This deputy answered the call to serve with courage and dedication, and that sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Please keep the deputy’s family, fellow deputies, and the entire Christian County community in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We stand with you and honor the life and service of a hero.
