🚨 DON’T FALL FOR A RECALL 🚨

You open your email and see an urgent message from “Amazon.”

A product you recently purchased has supposedly been recalled for a safety defect. The email tells you to click a link for a refund.

Sounds important, right?

That urgency is exactly what the scammer wants.

❌ DON’T click links inside an unexpected recall email.

❌ DON’T enter your Amazon username or password through a link sent by email.

❌ DON’T trust a recall notice with no clear product name, order information, or explanation of the safety issue.

✅ DO open the Amazon app or type Amazon’s website into your browser yourself.

✅ DO check your account and recent orders directly.

✅ DO slow down when an email pressures you to act quickly.

👮‍♂️ LAW ENFORCEMENT TIP: Scammers count on urgency, curiosity, and fear. A few extra seconds spent verifying the message might protect your account, personal information, and money.

If the recall is legitimate, you should find information through your Amazon account without following a suspicious email link.

Stay alert. Protect your information. Keep fighting fraud.

🚨 FRAUD FIGHTERS ALERT 🚨 WhatsApp “Vote” Scam

A message from a friend or family member asking you to “vote” in an online contest may actually be a scam designed to take over your WhatsApp account.

The goal is bigger than stealing access to your messages.

Once criminals connect their device to your account, they may use your identity and trusted contact list to:

⚠️ Send the same scam to your friends and family
⚠️ Impersonate you and ask your contacts for money or personal information
⚠️ Study your conversations for names, relationships, and other information useful in future scams
⚠️ Send additional malicious or fraudulent links from an account people already trust
⚠️ Expand the scam quickly through your entire contact network

This works because people are far more likely to trust a message coming from someone they know.

Protect yourself:

✅ Be cautious with unexpected links — even from friends or family.
✅ Never connect or link a new device unless YOU started the process.
✅ Check Linked Devices in WhatsApp settings and remove anything you do not recognize.
✅ If a message seems unusual, contact the sender another way before clicking anything.

THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK. One compromised account can expose an entire circle of friends and family.

BUNNELL POLICE ARREST SUSPECT AFTER REPORTED ROBBERY; RECOVER VICTIM’S NECKLACE

Coordinated response leads to arrest in nearly 40 minutes

Bunnell Police officers arrested a robbery suspect and recovered the victim’s stolen necklace following an incident shortly after midnight on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

At approximately 12:01 a.m., officers responded to a reported robbery and battery at a homeless campsite located on private property near the State Road 100 overpass at U.S. 1 in Bunnell.

The victim reported a man entered the campsite, called him out of his tent, struck him in the face, forcibly snatched a silver necklace from his neck, and fled on a bicycle. The victim sustained a facial laceration during the encounter. Also, the victim knew the suspect by name and provided officers with several details.

Bunnell Police officers and Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies immediately searched the surrounding area and located the suspect approximately 40 minutes after the initial report hiding inside a home at 304 S. Anderson Dr, Bunnell, and took him into custody.

Officers identified him as Ruben Boatwright, 34, a transient with ties to Bunnell.

During a search incident to arrest, officers recovered the victim’s necklace from Boatwright’s pocket.

Officers also recovered a glass tube and additional drug paraphernalia. Residue found on the items tested positive for the presence of co***ne.

Boatwright was transported to the Flagler County Inmate Facility on the following charges:

▪️Robbery by sudden snatching without a firearm or weapon; (Felony)
▪️Battery — touch or strike; (Misdemeanor)
▪️Possession of a controlled substance without a prescription; and (Felony)
▪️Possession of drug paraphernalia. (Misdemeanor)

He is being held on $14,500 bail.

A review of the Florida Department of Corrections public website indicated Boatwright was previously in their custody for a 2022 case of Selling Co***ne within 1000 feet of a School. In summary, he has an arrest history for five (5) felony and six (6) misdemeanors on charges including Drug Offenses, Battery, Trespassing, and Probation Violation.

“Our officers and Flagler County deputies worked quickly and cooperatively to locate the suspect, recover critical evidence and stolen property, and bring this incident to a safe conclusion,” Chief David Brannon said. “Anyone who commits a violent crime in Bunnell should expect a focused response and relentless follow-through.”

📚🍎 FIRST DAY VIBES! 🚔❤️

What a great way to kick off the new school year!

Officer Jonathan Whealton jumped right into the parent drop-off line helping students out of their vehicles and sending them toward their first day with a smile. Meanwhile, Lt. Shane Groth welcomed all the cool kids making their way from Mom’s car to the front doors. 😎🎒

And these kids came READY! Fresh outfits, new backpacks, big smiles and plenty of excitement for what lies ahead.
