🚨🌿 LOST & FOUND: WE’RE LOOKING FOR THE OWNER! 🌿🚨

Remember when your mom told you to make sure you got enough greens in your diet? 🥦 Well… we don’t think THIS is what she had in mind. 😂

Recently, a repossession company turned over some property to our officers after discovering it while conducting an inventory of a repossessed vehicle.

The property in question? 783 grams (approximately 1.73 pounds) of Devil’s Lettuce, Jazz Cabbage, Wacky Tobacky, Mary Jane, Broccoli’s suspicious cousin… aka ma*****na. 🍃

We’ve officially tagged and logged this leafy little mystery into our cold, dark evidence room. It’s safe, secure, and probably wondering why it got left behind. 🥶

We’d really love to reconnect this collection of questionable greens with its rightful owner. So, if you’ve misplaced approximately 1.73 pounds of Jazz Cabbage, or know someone who has, we’d love to talk to you!

Before anyone gets too excited, we should probably clarify that we’re not actually giving this property back. 😂 But we would really like to meet its rightful owner!

Remember, folks: getting your daily serving of greens is important, but maybe stick to spinach and broccoli. 🥦🤣

🚔 Please join us in welcoming Detective George Stephen “Steve” Gazdick to the Bunnell Police Department!

Tonight, Steve was officially sworn in during the Bunnell City Commission meeting, and we’re proud to welcome him to our team!

Steve brings more than 25 years of public safety experience to Bunnell, including a distinguished career with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, where he served in numerous leadership roles, ultimately retiring at the rank of Lieutenant.

Throughout his career, Steve has gained extensive experience in patrol operations, tactical response, emergency management, and incident command. He is also a Florida Department of Law Enforcement-certified instructor with more than 24 years of instructional experience, helping train and prepare public safety professionals.

Steve’s commitment to professional development is reflected in his education, which includes a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management and a Master of Public Administration from Barry University, along with an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice.

We’re excited to have Steve bring his experience, leadership, and dedication to serving the community to the Bunnell Police Department. Please join us in congratulating Detective Gazdick on this new chapter in his career!

The Bunnell Police Department extends our heartfelt condolences to our brothers and sisters at the Brevard County Sheriff's Office following the tragic loss of Agent Kevin Morris.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and fellow deputies during this difficult time. The loss of one of our own is felt throughout the entire law enforcement community, and we stand with our brothers and sisters in Brevard County as they grieve this tremendous loss.

Rest in peace, Agent Morris. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🖤💙

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office has received multiple reports of residents being targeted by "courier scams," a new technique utilizing courier services to arrange for in-person cash collection.

Many of our previous scam warnings have focused on the message that no law enforcement agency, bank, or other reputable organization will ever ask for payment using gift cards or cryptocurrency. That still remains true and is important to remember! However, many protections put in place — such as warning signs at gift card stations, vigilant employees, or banks denying suspicious funds transfers — have lead scammers to adopt a new means of targeting victims.

Here's what to look out for and how to protect yourself...

COURIER SCAMS
💰 Scammers (posing as law enforcement officers, bank employees, investment experts, etc.) may inform victims they need to send cash and inform the victim they will arrange for a cash courier.

📦 Once victims obtain the cash, scammers will arrange for a courier to pick up the cash at victims' homes or public locations. The courier may be affiliated with the scammer, or they may be an unsuspecting Uber Courier or Lyft Delivery driver simply fulfilling a pickup request.

TIPS TO PROTECT YOURSELF
⚠️ Don't disclose your home address or agree to meet with unknown individuals to deliver cash or other valuables.

⚠️ Be suspicious of unsolicited communication and contact with strangers; verify the identity of the person through third parties.

⚠️ If you or someone you know has fallen victim to this or another scam, contact the Flagler County Sheriff's Office at 386-313-4911 to file a report, or file a complaint with the IC3 at ic3.gov.

A huge thank-you to some of the wonderful women from the Daughters of the American Revolution, Old Kings Highway Chapter, who stopped by this morning with cake and snacks for our officers. We are proud to serve this community and appreciate your trust in us.

LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

On Monday, October 5th, the Bunnell City Commission appointed Police Chief David Brannon as Interim City Manager.

Because Florida's Constitution prohibits any person from holding more than one public office at the same time, Brannon resigned his position as Chief of Police to accept the appointment.

In his first official act as Interim City Manager, Brannon named Bunnell Police Lieutenant Shane Groth as Interim Chief of Police. Lt. Groth is a recent graduate of the 298th Session of the FBI National Academy, a ten-week leadership program at Quantico, Virginia, for law enforcement executives from across the country and around the world.

The men and women of the Bunnell Police Department will continue serving our community without interruption.
