Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

Memorial Day is not about the beginning of summer, sales, or a long weekend. It is a solemn reminder the freedoms we enjoy were paid for by those who never came home.

We join our community and our nation in honoring every service member who answered the call of duty and made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

May we never take their sacrifice for granted.

Freedom is not free.

Sometimes the smallest moments create the biggest opportunities.

What began with a simple pizza party conversation between Chief David Brannon and Chloe turned into an unforgettable experience and now a promising new chapter for her future. We’re incredibly proud of Chloe for stepping outside her comfort zone, embracing new opportunities, and representing herself with confidence and professionalism.

Thank you to Warden Joshua Lynn, the team at Tomoka Correctional Institution, Bunnell Mayor Catherine Robinson, City Manager Dr. Alvin Jackson, and everyone who helped make this possible. Changing lives starts with believing in people.

Members of the Bunnell Police Department stood in solemn remembrance this morning during the Volusia-Flagler Police Chiefs Association’s Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony. This annual event honors law enforcement officers and K-9s who made the ultimate sacrifice - including our own Sergeant Dominic Guida. We carry them and their families in our hearts.

🚨Consider this your warning🚨

The nationwide Click It or Ticket safety belt and child restraint enforcement campaign is underway, and with heavy Memorial Day weekend traffic expected, there are no excuses.

✅ Wear your seat belt.
✅ Make sure your passengers wear theirs.
✅ Make sure your children are properly secured in the correct child restraint device.

☠️ According to NHTSA, 9,758 passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes in 2024 were not wearing seat belts. Nearly half of passenger vehicle occupants killed were unrestrained when seat belt use was known. Among young adults ages 18 to 34 killed in passenger vehicle crashes, 59% were unbuckled.

Those numbers are not just statistics. They are people who never made it home.

💙 We want you to Arrive Alive — today, tomorrow, and every time you travel. A seat belt takes seconds to use and can change the outcome of a crash forever.

For more information, visit: NHTSA.gov/ClickIt

Buckle up. Every trip. Every seat. Every time.

Today, we took part in the City of Palm Coast's 6th annual Touch-a-Truck. Officer Whealton and PSO D'arcangelo showed adults and children how to use a body bunker, what an AED does and even how to turn on sirens and lights. Can we do this again next weekend?
