You’ve probably seen both Flagler County Fire Rescue (FCFR) and Palm Coast Fire Department (PCFD) around town, and that’s because they respond together every day.

FCFR serves all of Flagler County providing fire protection as well as both basic and advanced medical transport, including inside the city limits of Palm Coast. FCFR trucks are red with black and gold stripes, fire fighters and paramedics wear grey polos or tee shirts

PCFD provides fire protection and aide on medical calls inside Palm Coast. You can tell the difference by both the color of their vehicles and uniforms (PCFD has red trucks with blue stripes. Staff wear navy-blue uniform shirts)

🤝 The Good News? They Are A Team!

Together, FCFR and PCFD work side by side every day, combining resources, personnel, and expertise to ensure fast, high quality service across the entire county. The partnership between the two agencies strengthens public safety, improves medical response capability, and ensures residents receive the right level of care—no matter where they live.

No matter which logo is on the truck, both agencies operate under a unified 911 dispatch system. They use automatic mutual aid, meaning the closest fire truck or rescue will always respond to your emergency, regardless of the boundary lines.

Keeping our community safe is a team effort, and PCFD and FCFR make that happen every day.

While Engine 40 was heading out on an emergent medical call around 3:00 AM on 5/25/26, the crew spotted an unexpected little visitor.....a juvenile Barred Owl hanging out a bit too close to the action.

After patient care was completed, the crew circled back to check on our feathered neighbor and found the owl on the shoulder of N. Oceanshore Blvd., clearly in need of a helping wing. The team gently secured the young owl, brought it back to Station 40 for safekeeping, and began the hunt for a rehab facility, no easy task at 3 AM on Memorial Day. Despite the holiday closures, FF Gavin Lysaght stepped up and transported the owl to the Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet for proper care and treatment.

Big thanks to Gavin and the whole Engine 40 crew for going above and beyond, both for people and wildlife. 🌟🦉❤️

At Flagler County Fire Rescue, we don’t just put out fires…We also perform emergency dachshund extraction services. 🚒🐶

Earlier today, Bam-Bam, an adventurous little dachshund managed to get his head stuck inside a brake rotor.

Thankfully, Engine 57 rolled in to save the day! Lt. Hunter, Driver/Engineer Kendra, and Firefighter Calio carefully worked together to free the poor little guy.

After a tense rescue operation that involved teamwork, patience, and a whole lot of doggone determination. , Bam-Bam was safely freed and immediately went back to pretending nothing ever happened.

Moral of the story: no matter the emergency…fires, rescues, or overly curious pets , Flagler County Fire Rescue is always ready to help.
