Burbank Police Dept. BPD provides a strategic response to effectively prevent and detect crime and to apprehend criminals.

The Burbank Police Department, responds to more than 19,000 calls for service annually. These calls range from serious incidents such as violent crimes to community-oriented requests like house watches. Patrol Officers are responsible for proactive and reactive law enforcement, including traffic enforcement, crash investigation, and general public safety. Using crash data and community feedback, o

fficers conduct targeted enforcement in high-risk areas and address concerns such as speeding and traffic violations, with special attention given to school zones and parks. The division operates 24 hours a day and is organized into two 12 hour shifts (watches). Additional personnel, including STEP Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) and K9 Unit are deployed ensure maximum coverage and visibility. Officers may be selected for specialized assignments to support division operations. These assignments include:
• School Resource Officer (SRO)
• Evidence Technician Program
• Field Training Officer (FTO) Program
• Canine (K-9) Unit
• Task force officers (DEA & NARCINT)

Each shift is supervised by a Patrol Lieutenant or Sergeant serving as Watch Commander, who oversees daily operations and is available to address citizen questions, concerns, or complaints. For assistance, the Watch Commander can be reached through the Police Administrative Desk at (708) 924-7300.

Today, May 15th, is annually observed as 'National Peace Officers Memorial Day', signed into law in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy.

The Burbank Police Department thank the Burbank community for sharing their words of kindness, thankfulness, & memories of our fallen members throughout National Police Week.

We remember Police Officer Patrick M. Righi-Barnard who was killed in the line of duty on November 25, 2004.
