As Public Power Week comes to an end, we want to thank our line workers, operators, engineers, field crews, customer service teams, and specialists who serve Burbank.

Thank you for keeping our power reliable, our community connected, and our electrical system strong.

Public Power Week is a time to recognize the people who make it all possible.

As BWP’s Chief Assistant General Manager, Riad Sleiman, shares in our latest video: “as you watch our crews out in the field, this is what Public Power Week is all about. They’re the people climbing the poles, repairing the lines, maintaining the grid, and responding day and night to keep Burbank running smoothly.”

Watch along with sound on 🔊as we celebrate their dedication, skill, and commitment to our community. Thank you to our crews for keeping the power flowing every day! 💡⚡

Behind every drop of water and every reliable source of power is a team of highly trained professionals working in the field. Even during this week’s heatwave, our water and electrical crews worked around the clock—even in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees—to repair water mains, maintain valves, support electrical infrastructure, and respond to emergencies. Their hard work keeps Burbank’s essential services strong and dependable, even under the most challenging conditions. This week, we honor their dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to our community.

Burbank’s water reliability depends on long term planning and smart infrastructure investments. Our engineers and planners design, upgrade, and maintain the systems that keep water flowing, from pipelines and reservoirs to treatment processes. This week, we celebrate the professionals who build the backbone of our water system.

10/09/2026

It’s Water Professionals Appreciation Week, and we’re celebrating the teams who keep Burbank’s water clean, safe, and reliable.

We’re also celebrating the creativity of local students participating in MWD’s Student Art Contest, using art to inspire water conservation and spark conversations about protecting our most precious resource.

Our water professionals keep the system running. These students remind us why it matters.

10/08/2026

Water Professionals Appreciation Week is here! This week, we’re celebrating the dedicated teams who keep Burbank’s water system safe, reliable, and resilient, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. From treatment operators to field crews to water engineering staff, every part of BWP plays a role in delivering clean, reliable water to our community.

Thank you to the water professionals who make it all possible.
