Ghost Walk of Pender’s Past Returns to Downtown Burgaw

Burgaw, NC – This year, history and folklore come alive under the autumn moonlight as the Ghost Walk of Pender’s Past returns to downtown Burgaw. The popular walking tour blends local history, legends, and lore, inviting guests to step back in time and discover the stories—both real and rumored—that shaped our community.

Guided along the historic streets of Burgaw, visitors will encounter storytellers and costumed interpreters who share chilling tales drawn from Burgaw’s and Pender County’s past. From haunted happenings and mysterious folklore to true accounts of resilience and history, the Ghost Walk offers an evening of spine-tingling fun that is family-friendly and steeped in tradition.

Downtown Burgaw is the perfect setting for the Ghost Walk with its historic courthouse square, old buildings, and rich heritage, providing a backdrop for an evening of storytelling.

The walking tour covers multiple stops throughout downtown, highlighting notable landmarks while weaving together ghost stories and historical anecdotes. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and prepare for an atmospheric stroll through time.

Tours will start at 5:30 pm. Tours are expected to last roughly an hour. Please dress according to the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Tickets are $15 for Adults and $10 for children 5-17. Children age 4 and under are admitted free with a paid adult. Families with small children are encouraged to attend early tours.

The Pender Arts Council, the Pender County Historical Society and the Historical Society of Topsail were awarded their Ghost Walk funds at their special Christmas Luncheons this week. The Ghost Walk is a collaborative fundraiser and community event that presents our history in a fun and unique way from the coast to the west and everything in between. We could not do it without the help of our volunteers from our partners. A well deserved thank you to all that assisted!
