Bring your current craft project, swap supplies, get assistance, or just hang out at our crafting
circle! All craft types are encouraged! We will put out an array of supplies to share. Crafty children are welcome, but please be prepared to supervise and assist anyone under 10.

Pender County Library is partnering with American Red Cross to host a community blood drive event on Friday, May 29 from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm. The drive will be held at the Burgaw Library which is located at 103 S. Cowan St., Burgaw, NC 28425.

We enjoyed our recent visit with Oakley the therapy dog at the Hampstead Branch Library. She was such a delight and the families loved her! We're grateful to handler Elaine and Love On a Leash.

We look forward to seeing therapy dog Ziggy and Cheryl from Love on a Leash at our next Read With a Furry friend event on Saturday, June 13 at 11:00 AM at the Hampstead Branch Library.

In observance of Memorial Day, all Pender County Library locations will be closed Saturday, May 23 - Monday, May 25. The library will open on Tuesday, May 26 at 10:00 am.

Next week, on Thursday, May 21 at 6:00 PM, the Main Library in Burgaw will host author and historian Rona Simmons to discuss her book “No Average Day” which takes October 24, 1944 as its lens. More Americans died that day than at Pearl Harbor or D-Day, and Simmons tells the story through the people who actually experienced it: clerks, radio operators, cooks, sailors, machinist mates, riflemen, and pilots and their air crews, researched through small-town newspapers, ship’s logs, and conversations with descendants.

Patrons can join us for an open house from 5:00-6:00 PM at the Dallas Herring Library Annex, located across the street from the Main Library, to view related materials from the library collection. One such item featured at the open house is the World War II Honor List of Dead and Missing from the State of North Carolina that was issued by the War Department in June of 1946 – part of which is pictured here.

If you are an eligible type O, B -, or A- donor, consider making a Power Red Donation - red blood cells are the most commonly transfused and go to these donations go to the sickest patients.
