Many hands make light work! Thank you to the volunteers from Town of Leland Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources, Celanese Corporation,Josh London State Farm Agent for joining our loyal volunteer corps! 1000 trees were unloaded and are ready for their new homes tomorrow. Set your alarm to attend our first tree distribution in Founders Park in Leland tomorrow beginning at 9:00 am!

This past Saturday I joined 600+ cyclists for the Tour de Blueberry ride in Burgaw, NC representing the Terry Benjey Bike Foundation. This ride is our major fundraising event which helps us to support our mission to improve bicycling opportunities and safety in the Cape Fear Region of North Carolina.

The beaches along the gulf coast of Florida are amazing and one of my favorites is Manatee Beach in Bradenton, Florida. A nice white quartz sand that is more like sugar than sand is groomed daily by staff. It’s home to picnic tables, volleyball courts, a beach side cafe, restrooms and a shop. The turquoise water is gorgeous and best of all has minimal waves so it’s perfect for kiddos.

Here is another favorite park of mine in Sarasota. Urfer Family Park has an awesome playground that is shaded which is amazing on a hot sunny Florida day. It also has a number of walking trails picnic tables, shelters and even has cattle. That’s right there are cows and steers at this park.

is back in the Sunshine state visiting some of his old parks. Yesterday we visited Twin Lakes Park, home to spring training facilities for the Baltimore Orioles as well as youth sports fields for baseball, tee ball, football, and soccer.

There is also this awesome playground that my two boys loved. With an ADA ramp and a pour in play surface this spot is well loved by all the kids.

Westgate Nature Park in Leland, NC sure looks beautiful in the snow. Anytime you get snow at the beach it’s a big deal.

Westover Park in Durham, NC is a cute neighborhood park that also provides connectivity on the West Ellerbee Creek Trail. Which is part of Durham’s Open Space and Trails network.

This site includes public art, picnic areas, and two playgrounds with artificial turf surfacing.

Rocky Branch Park in is an amazing example of a community involved park build that has grown over almost a decade. This urban trail system is one of the regions most unique volunteer lead projects for bikers hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.

The most recent trail development has been completed by and I must say makes me want to grab a bike and try it out. The awesome part is this trail is also part of the Carolina Thread Trail . “The Carolina Thread Trail is your regional network of connected greenways, trails and blueways that reaches 15 counties, 2 states and 2.9 million people.”
