Pender County 4-H 4-H is one of the largest youth development organizations in which youth and adults learn, grow, and

4-H is one of the largest youth organizations in the United States with over 7 million participants, and claims approximately 240,000 in North Carolina alone. 4-H is best identified by its green four-leaf clover with an H on each leaf. The four H's on the emblem stand for Head, Heart, Hands, and Health. 4-H is the only youth organization based at land-grant universities and the first experience many youth have with higher education.

Only 3 spots left for 4-H Web of Life!! Youth ages 5-12 come out to the Pender County Cooperative Extension auditorium, 801 S. Walker St. Burgaw, June 4th, 9am-3pm to learn all about our local wildlife and ways that we can help protect our environment. Play games and make nature crafts. Cost is only $10 per child. Pender County 4-H Embryology was a hit in 2nd grade classrooms of Pender County public schools and Johnson Primary School in Camp Lejeune. This embryology program teaches youth about embryo development and life cycle of chickens. Students participate in setting up incubators, monitoring fertilized eggs until they hatch. Students help care for the chicks in a brooder and chicks are then donated to local farms.

Pender County 4-H, Malpass Corner PTO/PACES Afterschool and Girl Scout Troop #1108 all participated in a landscape beautification project at Malpass Corner Elementary. Plants were donated by Old River Farm and funds donated by the PTO and youth carefully placed and planted perennials in beds around the front of the school. Thank you everyone for helping with this important project and we hope families will enjoy the flowering plants for years to come.

Whether you walk the whole mile, a few laps, or just stop by to say hello and support survivors of domestic violence in our community — we’d love to see you there!
Hosted by the amazing Hampstead Helpers 4-H Club, this FREE community event is all about awareness, support, and coming together for a great cause.
Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring donations for the shelter such as:
Paper products
Toiletries
Cleaning supplies
Shelf-stable meals
Other everyday necessities

Pender County 4-H Afterschool Enrichment robotics program at Malpass Corner was a blast!! Youth learned all about coding, how to navigate mazes and other robotics problem solving skills with the Sphero Bots+. Thank you Johnathan Blue, Area Specialized 4-H Youth Development Agent- STEM and Jacob Farrow, 4-H Teen Volunteer for helping introduce the students to the Sphero Bot+ robots. Kingsley Fussell, Cyber Cyclones Club President spoke to the group about joining his 4-H robotics club.

PACES Afterschool at Malpass Corner just completed a six week 4-H Farms Series with Old McNally Farm. Youth got to learn all about farm animals such as ducks, chickens, goats, pigs, farm work dogs and rabbits. Thank you Cindy McNally for dedicating your time to teaching our 4-H youth about animal husbandry and showmanship.

19 Pender County youth participated in the 2026 Coastal Plains 4-H Chicken Project. Participants raised their Red Star ...

19 Pender County youth participated in the 2026 Coastal Plains 4-H Chicken Project. Participants raised their Red Star 3 day old chicks starting back in February. They learned how to feed, care for and show their hens. They then took their hens to the Lenoir County Livestock Arena for this District-wide show. Some of the youth also raised broilers to donate to a food bank after the show. This project taught the youth all about responsibility, discipline and caring for Chickens.

Hannah Jarrett won 2nd Place in Breed Class 6
Sydney Jarrett won 3rd Place in Breed Class 12
Congratulations Pender County 4-H for completing this excellent project!
